I absolutely loved the premise of Fool Me Once—it’s gripping from the very start. The idea of a woman mourning her murdered husband only to see him appear on a nanny cam with their daughter is both chilling and thrilling. I could feel the intensity and confusion radiating from the main character, Maya, in that moment. Coben masterfully keeps the suspense high, layering twists and secrets that unravel in surprising ways. This is a fast-paced, emotionally charged thriller that kept me guessing until the very end.

Boring trope after trope by another man failing at storytelling from a women's perspective
I received this book from a Goodreads Giveaway.
An entertaining read with some good twists and turns. The story follows Maya who after the murder of her husband then sees him on her nanny cam. So who can she trust? Basically she's on her own and with suspicion of a police involvement in the deception Maya tries to discover the truth.
I think the author has missed a trick here, the terror which would surely accompany anyone in this situation doesn't really come across. The story and plot was good but I think it could have had more impact. The other books I've read by Coben certainly seemed stronger to me.

Reading for bookclub.
I love a thriller but something about this just didn’t grip me and the pacing felt quite strange.
It’s typical for thriller books to pick up later in the story, but this felt like it just escalated so quickly. I did enjoy how the story came together and the layers but I didn’t enjoy Maya as a character. I didn’t enjoy the denial of her being involved for it then to turn out she killed Joe. It didn’t feel like clever plotting it just felt like withholding to the audience. The flash forward to end felt like it rounded everything off, perhaps a little sentimental but somewhat sweet.
At times I did feel some confusion as to who was who, but that’s more of a reflection on my concentration levels than the book.
