The novelty of Abe Lincoln as vampire hunter wore off relatively quickly, but the excellent and engaging writing carried me through the rest of the novel. However, I was a little put off by the jumping back and forth between the historian-style accounts and the fictional 3rd person "scenes" that were scattered through each chapter - it seemed like there were too many attempts to turn this into a complete work of fiction to make it a "historical" accounting of Lincoln's life, and too many jumps out of the story to researched findings to make it a truly engaging 3rd person omniscient novel.
Overall, a novel concept and worth reading, if only to hear what the hype is about, but definitely won't go down in my list as a great book. I'm glad I borrowed this from the library as I wouldn't ever want to read it a second time.

I liked this story. I thought it was well researched and pretty well written. I am not a "vampire" reader so I was skeptical. I would actually give it 3 1/2 stars. A good read!

Honestly kind of loved this. It combined historical facts with absurdity, but did it in an almost real sort of way.
A vampire book which isn't about sex or teenagers is a nice change. Add to that some very appreciated information about Lincoln (for us non Americans who knows little of the history) and you got yourself a good book. The different narrators, if you will, makes it an interesting read, and in this case it works very well - Seth manages to write it as if it's nothing but another biography switching between journal entries from Lincoln and information the author has scougered elsewhere. I'm looking forward to seeing it take form as a movie. There's a lot of action between the lines in this book.
Yeah this is a Molly book. I really enjoyed finding out the true history of Lincoln. Ahhh guilty pleasure reading

I don’t think faux-biography style books are for me. That style for this story didn’t really pull me in and instead kept me at arms length. It wasn’t the worst, but I did drop it an extra .25 stars for the way it ended. I really didn’t like that.
