This is a 3.5! This book was quite entertaining and will make a really fun movie. At points you forget that Lincoln is a future president and just get into the story of his ax-wielding vampire hunter image.

I love how the author incorporates fact and fiction so seamlessly. You can almost believe that vampires are a part of history. Of course, mostly horror readers would probably let their imaginations run away with them like that. We know vampirism is not a factor in our history, but what if.......

Read this because you want a fun read, not so you can tear it apart. It is not a literary masterpiece, but is an entertaining one.

I did like a different take on the genre, mixing historical events with supernatural happenings but this one was a bit... lost, maybe. Adding vampires to history is something that has a lot of potential but while the story was engaging, the characters felt a bit flat. Good to read if you have nothing else or really enjoy supernatural historical fiction.

I give it two axes.
