This was a shockingly good book. I didn't care for the ending, but the rest really surprised me. I picked it up expecting a laugh and found the book to be poignant and reflective on the life and struggles of the historical Lincoln.

I thought that this might make me more interested in the life of Lincoln.
I was wrong.

Couldn't finish it. I just got bored. Maybe because it's just not my genre.

Loved the gory vampire chapters, but I felt like Lincoln was a little inconsistent as a character. And while I appreciate the cleverness of a historical fiction that reads like a biography, I don't really love biographies. I did enjoy learning a little history and recognizing the careful geographical details. I would also give five stars to a few of the really great and horrific gory vampire scenes. Overall, though, it left a little to be desired for me. Just okay.

Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

Started and stopped 3 times before finally finishing. Definitely a "meh" book for me

Super fun read - was not expecting to like this as much as I did. The way the Vampire elements are woven into real life events is incredible.

When I saw that this was the book club choice for October, I was less than excited. However, I never should have doubted the person who picked this book (she has similar taste in books) as I really enjoyed Abe's story intertwined with vampires... makes you wonder...

I enjoyed this book much more than the movie, which says a lot as I enjoyed the movie! The book (as they tend to do) has a lot more detail. The book seemed to pull more historical settings and people into the book and there were a lot more action scenes and other sub plots in the book that made it feel way more robust of a story.
