I don’t know if I just didn’t enjoy this or I wasn’t in the mood to read it…. But that was struggle get through. I mean I’m glad I did, but shout out to reading over three different mediums (why did the narrator decide to use a Jim Carrey voice for the giants??) and the Libby app for helping me along.
I stayed up the entire night to finish this book because I am hooked to all things Percy and Rick Riordan.
Rick Riordan takes old and serious mythology and spins it into a fun, vibrant and absolutely entertaining read. His way of telling stories and painting vivid adventures captivates me every time!
One thing that I honestly and wholeheartedly enjoyed reading was Leo's POVs. He's such a smart, strong, ingenious and hilarious character and 'Leo World' is officially my favourite World! He's so precious and sweet and adorably awkward that you can't help but fall in love with him. His sections really impressed me in this book. (I'm not comparing him to Percy because he's just on another level for me)
All that changed drastically though and my heart nearly stopped when Annabeth and Percy literally just tumbled into Tartarus!! (WHY WAS THAT NECESSARY???)
Annabeth is still as fierce as always. Going on a dangerous quest that no one else has come back from alive? Please, that's child's play for Annabeth Chase.
The Sammy/Leo, Frank and Hazel thing is just too weird for me. I'm okay with just Frank and Hazel. I'd prefer someone else for Leo, not a girl who'd been cozy with his great grandfather!! That gives me creep factor vibes and Leo is my precious, precious little boy.
I don't really have an opinion on Jason yet, I'm not a huge fan on him being the son of Zeus/Jupiter. I like the bromance between Percy and him but as an individual I'm still on the fence about whether I like him or loathe him. But this may be solely on the fact that I can't accept any other hero even being considered stronger than Percy.
One thing I did not like was Piper. She was such a moon-eyed girl always pining after Jason and worrying about her relationship with him instead of actually helping on the quest or doing anything productive on the Argo II. I found her whiny and annoying. Always Jason this or Jason that, as if she had no other life outside of him. (Edit: Also, she thought Percy was unimpressive, um, excuse you but Percy held up the Sky and became a praetor in 2 seconds so your opinion is invalid)
I also got a vibe that more emphasis was being put into the respective romantic relationships each character had (though none so annoying as Piper) and that left me a bit peeved. I started reading Percy Jackson for its adventure and friendship aesthetics but I think I can learn to love the romantic bonding.
But a few grievances are not enough for me to abandon Rick! I can't wait to read 'House of Hades' and hopefully experience the narrative of the previous books.

OMG THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!!! The only reason it was 4.5/5 was because there were a few parts that I found confusing. But that cliffhanger……….

I don’t really say OMG, but...O...M...G. I absolutely loved this. It had so much action and was very (VERY) funny. But...(I’m sorry) But, WHY DID IT HAVE TO END THAT WAY?!?
Anyway, this is definitely a 5 star book.
