You could easily skip around 100 pages in the beginning - this book was unnecessarily long with a thousand irrelevant side quests to give all of the heroes some action. Felt very filler-y. The stakes and suspense luckily picked up towards the end and the book concluded in a solid cliffhanger (no pun intended).

Really like 4.5 stars, just long but the last 1/3 of the book makes it worth it

I must say, Rick Riordan has yet again stunned me with his excellent ability to weave (pun intended) Roman and Greek mythology, and I might I add ACCURATELY, into the adventures of these demigods. He also manages to pull of some comic relief, though at some points in the book, I thought it was a little too inappropraite for the situation. Overall, it was a good, light, action-packed book, something I really needed.
