This was my favorite book of April, but it will stick with me for a long time.
Tamimi describes daily life under Israeli occupation, and her experience having been arrested and imprisoned at 16 years old for confronting an Israeli soldier.
She shines a light on Palestine's history, and that of others struggling for freedom around the world.
She reveals the spirit of Palestinians, who have endured so much unrest for decades, passing it down through generations; their resistance runs deep and starts early.
As Americans, it's easy to take our freedoms for granted; most of us unable to comprehend injustices of this magnitude. But we can learn, and we can resist too.
I can't recommend it enough. This is a must read.
Thank you PRH Audio for the gifted audiobook!

This book was so good. A really useful and accessible window into one Palestinian girlโs experience of life under apartheid. Highly recommend.

Ahedโs story is one that never should have happened. No child should go through what she has and it is eye-opening to realize that her experiences are far from unique; every single Palestinian has similar experiences of oppression, abuse, and loss. It is horrifying! And we in the west have the power to stop it. In her powerful words: โI ask also that you remember your humanity, because thatโs what will decide what you doโฆโ

This is 1000% essential reading if you are trying to understand Palestineโs unfortunate history. This not only is a fantastic memoir filled with personal accounts, but she also brings to light just how fucked up all governments are.
