All of the bad reviews must have really lowered my expectations, but I did enjoy reading the book. I can understand a lot of the criticisms, such as Scarlett suddenly becoming a loving mother or the fact she goes to Ireland at all. I think she matures as a character in a somewhat logical way given the events of the book, but I do not think Mitchell had anything like this in mind (if she did have any sequel in mind). I was just happy at the end to get some closure. I just hope that someone else will eventually write a better sequel.

The book was amazing. I loved going with Scarlett to so many different places and watching her grow up. The ending felt too abrupt and had a cut all ties feeling I didn't love.

Not as good as the original, but for a sequel, it was good.

Really no sequel to a masterpiece such as Gone With The Wind will ever live up to the first. I wonder how well this book would have been recieved had it been Margaret Mitchell herself who authored it. Could even she had continued the story of Scarlett with the same passion and voice as she portrayed her in GWTW? I remember reading this book back when it forst came out. I liked it okay but in no way did it draw me like GWTW did. And it is rather telling that I have GWTW sitting on my bookshelves but Scarlett is long gone - in a Goodwill, a Used Book Store, or in the hands of some stranger to me.

An interesting sequel to Gone with the Wind. Although it’s written by a different author I felt like it flowed well and went with the original well. Scarlett and Rhett were the same people as in the first. I liked Scarlett going to Ireland to see where her father came from. It still has the romance and drama that the first is known for. The only things I can find flaws with is at times the scenes drag on and could have gotten the same story out in less time. It is a long read. Also, the thing that makes Gone with the wind great is Rhett and Scarlett. It’s Scarlett’s story but we needed more Rhett in there. However, I really enjoyed it.

"She looked at the people seated along the sides of the long table. Smiling, talking, listening, laughing. How many of them, she wondered, have wounds inside them, too? How many feel dead, and grateful for it? How brave people are."
