I don't often feel compelled to talk about the books I'm reading, but this one sunk its teeth into me and I needed to tell everyone I encountered about it.

The insights into what sexual assault survivors face and how inept our system is to bring them justice has given me a more layered understanding of the #metoo movement than anything I've read up to this point.

The author expertly wove together threads from the past with the present in a way I've never experienced before. I am blown away by her strength and determination and vulnerability. This will stick with me for a long time.

Run Towards the Danger is a lovely collection of essays by Sarah Polley. Polley is genuine and vulnerable as she writes about recollections of her childhood, young adult, and adult moments. Each piece is a standalone essay but when read in conjunction with each other, they paint a beautiful story of a woman coming to terms with and learning about herself through the lens of retrospection.
I found the book encouraging and interesting to read as throughout the book the evidence of Polley’s growth and healing is evident - in many ways her journey gives hope to those following her as we all learn in our own lives to run Towards the Danger.

If you thought the young Sarah Polley was a national treasure, look at her now! Better yet, listen to her every recent interview and buy a copy of Run Towards The Danger which is not only the title of her new book, a collection of six essays that examines pivotal moments in Sarah's life, but is the best positive talk mantra I have ever heard. Run. Towards. The. Danger.
