A sweet, emotional romance. I loved the MMC, there was such a gentleness about him while still being realistically a man’s POV. The issues surrounding social media/being an influencer were interesting and well done.
I did feel like the book dragged a bit at times, and I wish the relationship with Ezra was fleshed out more. He haunted the narrative the whole book and yet I felt like the description of the relationship with him (and his mother) was very tell not show. And I felt the same way about her relationship with her mother, it would pop up every now and then and I’d have to be reminded, like oh right that’s an issue.
Overall a great read, I would consider it a cozy romance.

Okay, this one was really cute- so much so that it brought me out of my reading slump! I can't lie, I've been, on the whole, very disappointed in the Romance book department lately (all of it has just become poorly written, sex-filled nonsense). THIS ONE on the other hand, I actually was looking forward to reading, and I am glad I read it! It's exciting with careful thought, well-written, and funny (while also able to touch on important topics in meaningful ways).

I would say it is less of a love-triangle trope and more of a book that answers the question: How can you search for love when your heart belongs to someone else? I felt that this angle made the book wayy more modern and realistic than you typically find in books. And this is precisely where Obuobi remains: she extracts these nuances in riveting and interesting ways while honoring many of the flaws of the characters. The only thing I was not a fan of was that at times I thought Mal was a bit too perfect, I would have liked to see a bit more of him! Nevertheless, I enjoyed this read a lot.

Great book! Loved the diversity, frankly the lack of white people was refreshing! MMC Romance writer… SWOON! I really thought FMC was going to make the wrong choice, alas the good guy wins!

beautifully written book, characters were well written, love triangle felt very natural and not forced. I LOVE MAL

DID NOT FINISH: 71%

There's a lot to like about this book. It's well written and the characters are good! It's just that Ezra is so clearly terrible (very hard to sell that he's a good friend!) and Malcolm is a perfect unicorn. There's not much tension. I wish these fictional people well, but I could not finish this book.
