Stuff like this makes me want to start a shelf called "fucking awful."
I only kept reading it so I could hate it. Man, did I.

This story was absolutely beautiful. I loved seeing the connection between Auburn and Reed. The chemistry and connection they share is something you cannot fake. Not only did I love their chemistry, but I just loved their story. How even though their relationship wasn't something that was suppose to happen they just couldn't ignore the fact that they were drawn toward each other. I also really loved the fact that they were both big into reading and writing which made me fall even more in love with these characters. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The ending crushed me, but I was also able to see the beauty in the whole story.

Currently broken

I felt every ounce of love between Reed and Auburn. From the friendly banter in the beginning, to the passion that burned at the end.
Adriane Leigh wrote a beautiful and haunting story about two people, who have all the time in the world to let their love blossom.
Just as I was thinking their HEA was just over the horizon, a cruel twist brought it all crashing down. Hoping this was just a bump in their journey to that elusive HEA, I read on.
I could not read this book fast enough and had to finish it in one sitting.
I am currently broken, right now because Ms Leigh put everything within touching distance, only to snatch it away right at the last gasp.
This is a fast paced story and I thought it was beautifully written. I felt the feelings poured off the pages. There is no denying the deep connection between Reed and Auburn.

This book had tremendous potential. Maybe because it was short it didn't get to live up to it? I'm not sure. But I definitely liked the concept of the story. I'm not a huge fan of teacher-student romances (I'm a mom of girls!), however, if the student is at the age of consent, I have no worries. And this wasn't even the typical taboo story anyway.

This story is about a teacher (Reed) and a student (Auburn) who, in high school, had a platonic but deep connection through writing. They just clicked. But Reed didn't take it any further because of his respect for the rules and... oh yeah, dude was married. Actually he's married for pretty much most of the book lol. But fast forward 3 years after graduation and Auburn is home from college taking a summer school writing course. Guess who the teacher is??? Yup. Reed. Their connection is stronger than ever and is NO LONGER PLATONIC!! Get ready for some chemistry.

It's a quick read, the storyline doesn't feel that rushed even though it is, and I really liked it. My eyes stung at some parts (I'm not spoiling the plot for anyone) so you know the read was decent. Enjoy!

Beautiful Burn by Adriane Leigh was an amazing book. Beautiful Burn is very well written and will make you cry. I loved Beautiful Burn. This was the first book I have read by Adriane Leigh but it will not be my last. I loved Reed and Auburn.

Here is one of my favorite quotes in Beautiful Burn:
"I’ve learned that love lies. I’ve learned that love breaks us. I’ve learned that love is a beautiful burn in a quiet corner of the heart that won’t be ignored."

Leigh, Adriane (2015-01-12). Beautiful Burn (Kindle Locations 28-29). Islebrook Press. Kindle Edition.

This was a fantastic book that I found incredibly hard to put down. From the start I was completely taken with their relationship and championed them until the end. There was some unexpected twists which I loved but at the same time they did break my heart and had me crying like a baby.

My one complaint is that it was a little too short for the time span and events that the book was trying to cover. This therefore made everything look that bit more rushed. I feel had it been longer we may have been able to get to know the characters a bit better.

Regardless a great read that I would recommend, but please do remember tissues!

I will say with the subject matter that Beautiful Burn presents in the blurb I was a little iffy about whether or not I really wanted to read it. Everyone was a consenting adult within the story so I gave it a chance.

It was a pretty quick read. I read it in a couple of hours (that's including any and all interruptions that can occur). The only time I think a longer story could have been helpful was when there were random flashbacks thrown in throughout. I would often have to go back and realign myself with just where I was in the story and what information was being relayed to me. I think if the story was longer these confusions wouldn't have happened because there could have been more lead-in time.

I was surprised when the entirety of the story was told from Reed's (Mr. West) point of view. I kept expecting Aurburn's POV to pop up, but it didn't. I figured this was all some sort of plot device to eventually lead to some kind of nefarious actions on Aurburn's part that Reed didn't see coming, but well....if you want to know you'll just have to read the story.

There were times when I thought that the story was getting a bit monotonous. Now I feel like this is Adriane Leigh lulling readers into a sense of complacency and then BAM here comes the twist! I truly didn't see the twist coming, but once it did I mentally went back through different scenes. There were little, tiny, minuscule hints but nothing, I think, that could have caused the reader to discern what was really coming. I'm ok with that. I'm ok with the author having all the cards and not showing them to the readers just until it's time. I mean the book blurb clearly states that there are secrets between Auburn and Reed. I guess this was the one secret I didn't think of.

Overall, I'm glad I gave the book a chance. It is a classic case of "don't judge a book by it's cover" (or subject matter).
