My heart! This book has my entire heart! The love in this story is beyond compare.

Noah is a growly, sexy, blushing jam maker! I absolutely love that he blushes and has no idea how appealing he is. He was shy and awkward growing up and never planned on taking over his family farm, but he's rocking it! He is seriously so sweet and a total alpha in the bedroom. Noah is also the guardian to his niece, Gennie. She is a firecracker! This poor little girl has been through more than most adults in her short life. Her character seriously adds so much to this story.

Shay has been going through the motions and trying to be perfect for so long. After being left at the alter, she moves back to Friendship, Rhode Island where she inherited her step grandma's farm. Shay needs to figure out who she is and what she wants while living there. She's sweet and lost and searching for her true self.

These two are perfectly imperfect. Noah has loved Shay for so long and watching him fall for the woman she is now was everything! What starts out as a fake relationship turns into a beautiful relationship. He shows Shay what it's like to loved and adored. Shay shows him what it's like to be taken care of. She grows so much. Gennie and Noah grow and go through many challenges. The three of them make an amazing family. I absolutely love this slow burn, marriage of convenience, small town romance!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. Gennie was my favorite character, honestly - she was hilarious! I liked Shay but sometimes just wanted to slap her around to end her pity party for herself. And then there's Noah... I really liked Noah, but I will say, as other readers mentioned, his habit of just referring to Shay as WIFE gets old. It came across like a creepy obsession at first - which is possibly true, that he was obsessed with her after she left town, and was now obsessed with her return.

There were a couple of instances where Shay's actions just didn't make sense because it seemed to contradict what she was just saying a page prior, but that didn't stop my enjoyment.

I will say I was uncomfortable every time she was referred to as "squishy" for her weight (who says that???????) and that would pull me out of it a bit.

Only other feedback would be that the friend characters all felt super flat and aside from Jaime being portrayed as the mom of the group who loves sex, none of them were memorable, but I didn't care.

In a Jam by Kate Canterbury *Re-read

Quotes: "But all she said was, “It’s really good to see you, Noah,” and I was sixteen all over again."

“You said she was the one who got away,” .. “You said she’d always be the one.”

"All she has ever wanted is a family and the regular old things that come with families."

“I don’t think you’re forgettable,” I said. “Believe me. I know. I’ve tried to forget you. I couldn’t. Nothing I did chased those memories away.”

"She deserved everything, even if I couldn’t be the one to give it to her."

Review: A couple of years ago, I read this on KU. On a whim. I ended up really liking it. Upon revisiting it, I think I like it more now. It's easily one of the best contemporary romance or romcoms I've read.
You get some of the typical things you'd expect. Like the fake dating / marriage of convenience, etc.. Maybe a little cheesy. But it's so good.  Some books you just love.

I liked the characters a lot. Not just Shay and Noah, but Gennie, his niece. Who is hilariously foulmouthed.

There's good humor mixed in. Phenomenal banter. And a tremendous slowburn. The story is very romantic, and I don't say that often. There's little details thrown in that give the story and characters depth.

When Shay comes back, Noah quickly realizes he never got over the girl who was his best friend, who left one day without saying goodbye. She had no idea how much she meant to him.

After Shay had to face the embarrassment of her wedding being called off shortly before it could start. Little does she know it would lead her to go back to the one place she called home as a teen and the boy who was always there for her.

I think the tagline on the cover said it best:

"She's the one who got away. She just doesn't know it."

Thanks for reading 📚

h:was left at the altar; inherits a farm of her step grandmother; is a kindergarten teacher; moved to friendship to live on the Farm for a year, has to get married and live there permanently to inherit it completely; went 2 years to Highschool there; were friends with Noah

summary: Shay inherits the farm but she needs to get married in a. year. to. keep. it. so. she thinks that she. can live there for a. last year because. getting married is. not possible. Meets Noah right away and his niece loves shay from the very first minute. Ginny has problems in school so shay wants to help and teach her. so they meet almost every day. Noah keeps his distance because he can't read shay but needs her help at a festival to pretend she is his wife and he notices that he still loves her. He proposes the fake marriage so that shay can keep the farm and he gets some of her land. They get married but soon notices that they are attracted to each other so they have sex but shay is afraid and keeps her distance emotionally.
