In this heart pounding fourth installment of Alex Rider, Alex has a run in with the man who killed his uncle Ian Rider he gets suspicious and follows him. This sets off a series of events leading to Alex being suspicions of Sir Damian Cray, a pop star, anti-violence, peace activist and one of the most famous men in the world.

He goes to MI6 with his thoughts the only problem is they don't believe him. So Alex is on his own to discover the truth that lies behind all the glamor that Cray presents to the world. What he finds is a man with evil, twisted mind that is willing to sacrifice anything for his beliefs.

This book like the last had action and was sometimes intense with mystery thrown in as well. But I do think that we see a lot more action in this one than the last. Another thing I have to mention that the assassin, Yassen Gregorvic, really surprised me, when it came down to it he was not at all what I was expecting.

We also see a lot more open possibilities for Alex though they may not be obvious just yet.

I have said it more than once and I will say it again, the Alex Rider series, is one of the best series I have ever read. Anthony Horowitz really presents him to us in a way that we can relate to no matter the age of the reader.

I definitely urge any Alex Rider fans to read this book, as well as new reads or ones who have been putting it off this is a must read.

3.5/5 stars. This was a bit slower and a little less interesting to me, but still good.

Better. You can start seeing that Anthony is getting more into development of the story with this one. But it still has that element of cheese that was predominantly present with with the first 2 books but less so with the 3rd. The plot is out there with the villian, Damian. He was not as grounded as he was in the tv show. Not as fleshed out with a driving purpose. He was just crazy and narcissistic which is scary in it's own way. I forgot how quick Yassen's death was in the books and how little time we got with him. I did enjoy the fact that we get more Alex and Jack interaction in this. She steps up more as a guardian and supporter. I also liked that Alex grows in independence in this one which I remembering continuing on as a trend in the series. Not a bad book. Again I'm waiting for the cheese to be less present like in Skeleton Key. I wonder if Anthony will mature the books into more grounded scenario and thriller.

Got the UK edition from the thrift store and it's shiny. :D I thought that this book was fascinating, even though Alex was a bit stupid, it is also when he starts branching out into the world.

Huh, I've marked everywhere that I read it. Even did a little review (sort of) about it after reading it for the Read-the-Alphabet project I did in 2012.

Sadly, I picked it up and started to read it thinking I hadn't read it already. Everything was familiar as I went through the first 40 pages again but I can't really remember how it ended. Actually, I can't remember anything of it until I'm reading it. *Argh*
