I was going to give this book 3 stars, but then the dog died and you lose a star when that happens.
Stuck in a 4 day time loop, two nerds try to fix it. Things don’t work, they might fall in love, weird sciency shit happens and tbh, it was boring. But maybe if you know more about quantum physics than I do, you might enjoy it more.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. It was just too slow. Then, when things finally started to move, it was confusing. I honestly think it would make a great movie. But, as a book, it just didn't have that pull to make me what to read it. It too me a long time to get through it. All that said, it would put it more at a 3.5 than a 3.

Ehh? I really, really enjoyed the first 100 pages of this book. I liked the premise of the time loop. I was invested in Carter and Mariana's history and relationship. But, then it got weird and it lost me. I have zero clue why Mariana did what she did. I was more curious about Shay and the dog & cat than I was if she fixed the time loop. I also am very confused on why Bowie was needed?

I loved this book, and truly believe that Mike Chen writes books designed specifically for me.
His sense of humour is dialed for me. His characters are unique, but also incredibly relatable(even though they are completely different than I am).
I've read all his books, minus the latest Marvel book, which is on my TBR...and I hope that I get to it...soon.
I also LOVE "Groundhog Day" or in this book, "time loop" stories. I don't exactly know why, but they just touch a part of me...that hopes in the best possible outcomes, that sometime need a nudge (our of nowhere), to get the right thing done.
The one frustration that I have, and this is a "me thing", I cannot say what it was...for it is a minor spoiler (some may say a major spoiler) and I don't want to be THAT guy. Suffice it to say...some will love it, and others won't. It is just a narrative thing...that hinders my enjoyment (in this case, just slightly), but is put in there on purpose...and probably satisfies a LOT more people than disappoints. So, I just have to say, I'm happy for them...and just SLIGHTLY disappointed for me.
Again, this love story with Mariana and Carter...pushed all the right buttons for me.
I loved David and Bowie, too. They are definitely well written characters...and they had a significant part in this story.
Also, Maggie and BE. We love our pets.
Ah, Shay...we love you SO much, that we can picture a good place for you.
Again, Mike Chen's works are an automatic buy for me. Keep them coming.
