This book is just one huge miscommunication trope brought on by two incredibly insecure and pathetic idiots. Jackson is so stupid. Imagine waking up after a week in a coma to find out that your boyfriend of SEVEN FUCKING YEARS has essentially ghosted you. So, you spend the next 5 years trying to move on, except he’s decided to weasel his way back into your life hoping to “make things right”. You let him explain his radio silence and his explanation is something akin to “I was tired of living in your shadow and I wanted to live my dreams but I couldn’t have done that with you.”  Um, WHAT?!?  And then she just like. . . Forgave him?  Pathetic.

This was my first time reading a book by Connors, and I really enjoyed it! Tropes: sports romance, second chance, workplace/close proximity

What I loved:
•Sports Romance: skiing edition! Definitely an underrated sub genre that I thoroughly enjoy
•Second chance romance hopes with believable reasons and undeniable tension
•The fact that there was a fake-dating scenario that wasn’t the main relationship of the book
•Steamy chemistry

What I didn’t:
SPOILERS BELOW
•What happened to her job situation at the end??? She just accepted never having a PT job again??
•Serious communication errors over and over and over

It was okay, it just seemed to drag closer to the end. Also, Jackson, honey…learn some better freaking communication.

I picked up this book because I saw an ad for the third book in the series that looked great, but me being me, I had to read the first two books before that.

This was an okay romance. Second-chance romances are tricky for me, especially when the original cause of the split is the miscommunication trope, which is one of my least favorites.

Besides that, I did love MMC, he was charming, caring, and clearly attempting to make amends for his past actions throughout the book, but I didn't really like the FMC at all. I thought that she did a lot of blaming others (especially Nate) for things that she definitely had some blame for. She didn't see things from his perspective and didn't even try to, which is what frustrated me the most.

So while I loved the sports-romance trope set in the ski world, I had trouble believing that our FMC Jackson was worth all the trouble Nate went through to get her back. I will probably still read the second book since they are all standalone, but I hope to connect more with the characters during round 2!

I hadn’t read a skiing romance before so I thought I’d give it a chance!

This one was not bad by any means, just frustrating!

Jackson is a PT on the national skiing team. She gets assigned her ex boyfriend from 5 years ago. Nate left when she was in the hospital from a skiing injury. He never called or texted. He never told her why he left. Now, she’s “dating” another skier and isn’t interested in his explanations. He’s determined to win her back slowly. It is a very slow burn in that aspect. I just wanted to shake them both to get them to talk.

In the end, there is a conflict that I think Nate handled poorly, but the FMC ended up groveling. I don’t think she alone did anything wrong. Too much miscommunication.

I did love the “I haven’t been with anyone since you” moment!

So I started out of order for this series (reading book 3 first) but I loved it enough to come back to the beginning. And I enjoyed this one but it took a little for me to fully get into it. I’m pretty sure this was her debut so some little bumps are expected (and easily overlooked- especially since I enjoyed her other book so much). But I’m jumping right into book 2 next and still highly recommend this series.
