I wanted to really like it. I kind of did, I think. Likely because of Nate. But Jackson was a terrible FMC. She’s 29 years old but thinks and acts like she’s 20. The miscommunication trope was way overplayed. The blaming and pity party got old very fast. It just didn’t work for me.

I really haven’t read a snow sports book like this (downhill, GS, big slope ski) so really liked the extra details about the sport. The location changes were also super fun. As a book 1 in a series, def sucked me in enough to keep reading the next books. Didn’t love the miscommunication angle, but thankfully wasn’t as bad as others. Also, love a determined MMC.

I discovered Julia Connor’s through the Rebels series and already liked her books. So I went back to this series thinking I’d like it just as much.

But oof this book was not for me. I didn’t find either of the characters particularly likeable (especially the FMC), and holy shit the way the misunderstandings and not communicating drove me crazy. Will I be reading the next book in the series anyways? Of course. But hopefully it won’t a struggle the way this one was

Second chance romance
Lovers to enemies to lovers
Both are skiers

Pros:
- plot twist on MMC was good
- MMC was swoon worthy and never stopped loving her

Cons:
- FMC was annoying
- hate the miscommunication trope, they are terrible communicators but FMC was the worst. And the secrets she kept were stupid.
- FMC should have been more pissed at her dad and herself than Nate
- I kind of wish he walked away and made her work just as hard as he did to get back to her

I hadn’t read a skiing romance before so I thought I’d give it a chance!

This one was not bad by any means, just frustrating!

Jackson is a PT on the national skiing team. She gets assigned her ex boyfriend from 5 years ago. Nate left when she was in the hospital from a skiing injury. He never called or texted. He never told her why he left. Now, she’s “dating” another skier and isn’t interested in his explanations. He’s determined to win her back slowly. It is a very slow burn in that aspect. I just wanted to shake them both to get them to talk.

In the end, there is a conflict that I think Nate handled poorly, but the FMC ended up groveling. I don’t think she alone did anything wrong. Too much miscommunication.

I did love the “I haven’t been with anyone since you” moment!

The Frozen Hearts series follows characters that are professional athletes (Skiiers), trainers, and national competition team personnel. This is an easy read sports romance that finds the embers of an old love that never died, and how they find their flame again. While the tropes are common and the storyline is predictable, it is sweet, a little sassy, and pretty steamy.
