honestly crushing like raizel gets exactly what she wants but also seeing her get a taste of the world and rejecting it is so painful, she is so deeply loveable, it made me feel a lot of love and compassion for the version of myself that was in Raizel’s shoes

This is absolutely one of the best books I’ve read this year. Raizl had me crying tears of pain and tears of happiness— I felt so deeply for her. Loved the Yiddish! Loved the details of a culture that is at once oppressive and loving and home! I was so afraid some of the storylines wouldn’t be tied up by the end, but everything was just right. Truly a novel, truly a coming of age in the truest sense.

This was a gift from my best judy Rebecca, and wow it did NOT disappoint. I love when stories tackle enduring themes in unconventional ways and online porn intersecting with Judaism …. Sign me up! Super readable, interesting characters, and really made elements of their religion accessible to ignorant readers (such as myself).

I give this book some deep credit for prompting me to even have a Goodreads challenge this year!!!!!!
