• There's something about a giant fighting in leotards and doing pirouettes that just does it for me.
I dragged through this book. It wasn't necessarily that nothing was happening, it was just too much. Too many characters, too many plot lines and too many pages. I took almost as long to read The Son of Neptune (which has more or less the same amount of pages) and I didn't feel as exhausted. Can't wait for the next book, but I need a break. (I say that while also knowing that tomorrow I'll be missing this world).
The characters: everything.
The plot: everything.
Percabeth: everything!!!
(Also, a few hours ago I saw this TikTok talking about how Percy views himself vs. How others see him and SO TRUE. I can't with him, I swear

Legitimately the best one so far. Its really nice to see the whole group together on their big quest. WAY too engaging loved it
(5th or 6th re-read, August 2016)
this is also after reading HoH, so my thoughts are slightly overshadowed by that right now.
this book is so nostalgic for me. i actually recorded my own audiobook for it so i could access it 24/7. i used to listen to PJO/HOO audiobooks almost every night for two years. THESE BOOKS WERE MY LIFE. NO EXAGGERATION.
i feel like i could recite the first chapter by heart, i've read it (and listened to it) so many times.
the percabeth reunion kills me EVERY TIME, without fail. and of course, so does the end...in a completely different way (a much more painful way, might i add... 'as long as we're together'...muffled SCREAMING)
other highlights (other than THE ENTIRE BOOK)- chrysaor and percy's subsequent plan (adORE), annabeth's entire (extREMELY BADASS) solo quest (seriously, one of my very very favourite parts of this book, if not the entire series- you get to see just how clever annabeth really is, and it just leaves you in awe and i love it and i love her), the percabeth leading up to her solo quest, leo/hazel/frank in general but specifically in archimede's cave place and with leo's ingenius improvisation and the acquisition of the sphere (SO COOL), also frank/leo/hazel with chiron's undersea relatives, and...OF COURSE the whole narcissus kerfuffle....OH and the battle with otis and ephialtes (i especially adore percy's character development that came along with that- his relating to luke, which was so painfully sad but also grounding and understandable and it's like PERCY HAS REALLY GROWN UP AND AGAHGSG, and how angry he is at bacchus [and for good reason. i wanted to punch him SO BAD.]) yep. also everything else in this ENTIRE BOOK.
i found the percy-fearing-drowning thing so interesting. it really added something to percy's character, and added even more suspense to already crazy situations. super well done on rick's part.
every time i read about possessed-leo shooting new rome, i want to implode. it's like cringing but on a whole other level. even though i KNOW it's an eidolon, just...i feel so bad for leo.
i must say...i love these characters so much. despite how amazing everything else in this book was, the characters reign supreme. so. WELL. WRITTEN.
one of my favourite books of all time.

Annabeth comes into her own during this novel as the demigods fight against Gaia intensifies. I like how in this book all the pairings get mixed up so you see the development of the relationships between the 7.

What an ending… such a great set up for the next book. It was fun seeing all of our heroes finally together but it did get a little complicated keeping all of the stories straight so I’m knocking a star off for that. I still really enjoyed it! I think I just liked Lost Hero and Son of Neptune a little more. This had some reallllly awesome Annabeth scenes though! Let’s just put her on the cover why don’t we….
