I enjoyed this! It was a quick read (screenplays usually are) and it makes me even more excited to see all the visuals come to life. The story didn't go the way I thought it would and that was a nice surprise, though I'm a bit annoyed by the cliffhanger ending and lack of a resolution. This felt like FB was a prologue and that this was the first chapter of the actual story. Anyway, I did like the setup. I also felt like Rowling is writing this for adults. She knows her audience have grown up and is writing to them now.

About the book itself: freaking gorgeous! The cover, illustrations, page frames, and types are all astoundingly beautiful. I borrowed the copy I read from TPL and the whole read through, I kept thinking I want to own this lovely little book. It's eye catching and is just as beautiful inside.

So: Four stars for the story, the additional star for the book itself. Perfection.

We're back in Hogwarts!
I know that many people didn't like CoG as a film and while I do understand some of the points I got to say that I absolutely loved it, espacially after reading the screenplay and watching it a second time.
I really enjoy Screenplays as a medium and love to see how they are made into a movie.
What I find so fascinating about this one is, how you can still see Rowlings writing stile through the very minimalistic dialouges. I think her charm and the magic from the Harry Potter books really show in this one as well and it makes me extremely happy reading it, it truely feels like coming home.
The plot is very interesting and has a lot of tension, most of the old characters have really interesting developments and I also liked most of the new ones. I also love Grindelwald as an Antagonist and actually enjoy him a little bit more than Voldemort in the end, just because the fact that he is able to love and still does such terrible things makes him even more interesting, but he's also very persuasive and doesn't just try to reign with fear like Voldemort did, but convinces people who aren't radical at all to join him for their own matters which also is a very current problem.
I really recommend reading the screenplay or at least watch the movie a second time, even if you didn't like it that much, because there is so much going on that you can't possibly get everything at the first time.
The last thing isn't important to the quality of the book itself, but I just got to say that I absolutely loved the desing and the paintings in it, it's beautifully done and makes it even more precious to me.

V kině mě film uhranul a ani jsem nedutala, ale jak to vidím napsané, nevím, nevím :D Některé dialogy mi moc nedávají smysl. Ale to nic nemění na tom, že jsem zase dostala chuť se na to podívat. ♥

Not a fan of the screenplay format. That aside, the storyline wasn’t as intriguing to me as the first book. I basically read it to just get it over with. I hope the secrets of Dumbledore is better!

This was meh. I'm mainly a sucker for anything in the Harry Potter related universe like every other token millennial. But on its face, this story (script) was not very good.

At some point, when the waiting to see the movie lasted a little too long, I was contemplating reading this book before seeing the movie, but I'm very glad I didn't do so and allowed the movie to overwhelm me. I know there has been a lot of contradiction surrounding this movie and the casting. Let me start this review with saying that my very first official introduction to the Harry Potter world was the fantastic beasts movie, which means that I haven't re-read all books a thousand times and for sure haven't read all interviews.

And I think that was part of the reason why I could enjoy this movie, and the script, to the fullest. I wasn't bothered by canon being contradicted or some timeline failures. I'm also very aware that sometimes it just happens and that we have three more movies to go, which means that there might still be a way for everything to make sense in the greater scheme of things.

What I loved about this movie, was the way everything was built up. The first half of the story felt a little all over the place. Where the first movie was a very direct and straight storyline, this one was much more complicated with more points of views and more smaller arcs. The built up was slow at times, although I really loved and appreciated the atmosphere that was created and the way magic is used in such an adult like manner.

But, that built up was totally worth it, if you ask me. The finale of the movie, when all the different storylines came together and all the characters were united in one place, was breathtaking, overwhelming and perfectly delivered. I really loved Grindelwald's speech at the very end, feeling a part of me agreeing with him and believing in what he said. This made Queenie's choice very believable for me. If I had been her, I would have done the same thing and I think it's very powerful that Rowling made one of the core four side with the big bad. No matter how much we want it, it were not just the bad people siding with the side we now know to be wrong.

I have to admit that the storyline of Credence and Nagini felt like it only just started and didn't really play much of a part in this movie, but like I said, there are three more movies to come, so I can't wait to see how that line continues. I also have to admit that I might have fallen in love with Theseus Scamander a little.

What I also fell in love with, is the artwork in the book. The drawings are just breathtaking beautiful and fit the atmosphere so well. I also love how Rowling adds those little hints and all this off screen information in the script. I'm however glad I only read it after seeing the movie, it's way more vivid with the images of the movie still clearly in my mind.

I'm very impatient for the next movie and book! I can't wait to see what's in store for our beloved and less beloved characters.
