Make Mine Magic

This is a cute book and exactly what I needed — very little substance, fun characters, glamor gone bad, fish out of water (or girl out of Texas) story. I like that there are alternatives to being born with magic, which makes it less “special”/genetic. The audiobook narrator was good at the range of voices.

Here’s what this book is about:”Jilted at the altar, small-town librarian Claire is forced to go on her romantic honeymoon in New York City alone. After enduring one too many meals for two as one, Claire invites a seemingly harmless little old lady to join her for afternoon tea at the Plaza. Unbeknownst to Claire, said little old lady is actually a grand wizard, who bestows Claire with a magical amulet that makes her the sitting queen of the magical community. Claire is swept into the gilded world of New York City wizards - and a bitter power struggle for the throne. With the help of a cursed former prince, Claire must untangle this web of deception and find the magical community’s rightful leader before her "honeymoon" is over.”

I listened to this book on Audible and I liked it.

So so so so cute!

There wasn't anything I didn't like about this story. It was a really cute premise and the characters were written well. i loved Claire and enjoyed her jilted lover story line.

Overall, The cover is cute, the main character is cute, and everything else is cute. I will definitely be checking out Shanna's other work.

This was included free in Audible's new Audible Plus catalogue.  Since it was only a little over five hours of listening time, I took a chance and downloaded it.

Claire starts out being a bit naive and well, librarian-ish, for lack of a better term.  I loved how she played to her strengths though and used her skills as a librarian to solve her problems and help Declan.  The whole cast is both interesting and irritating, depending on the chapter, but that's a good thing, too, since it leaves you wondering who is on what side.

I adored the narrator, Karissa Vacker, as well.  She has a soothing and pleasant voice.  Her southern accent is a nice addition to Claire's voice, since she's from Texas.  I'd love to see a follow-up to this so I can find out what's going on in Claire's life.

Simple, short, magical romance novel. It's an okay palate cleanser but don't expect any surprises.

I have been a fan of the author for a while, and I was glad to see that there was a book of hers that I hadn't read yet.

I truly enjoyed the book, as it was written in the same fashion as her Enchanted, Inc books. A little mystery, a little romance, a little magic, all rolled into one. The ending wasn't as predictable as it could have been, but, with romances, they tend to have a similar theme. The journey to the end is what's important, not where they end up.

I hope to find more of her books that are similarly written. I have been enjoying them.

It was just fine. Utterly boring in the first half, but with a bit of a kick to the second half to keep me reading.
