4.5 Stars - The opening chapter left me feeling uneasy... just how was this going to end... Subsequent chapters were nice, romantic, with a fairytale quality; all obstacles easily overcome, sweet and comforting. And then we hit the 84% mark and we are back at present day. I didn't expect to get there so soon, as by this time I expected the ending to be
SpoilerAvery comes through surgery ok and they live twenty more years only to die the same day
. Instead, the feels hit me and I sobbed. And sobbed. And sobbed. How could she do that to me! but I should have had faith. The true end was beautiful and perfect, but the pain to get there! I have to admit to feeling a little manipulated. And sorry for
Spoiler their children
. At the last, the end elevates the rest of the book, making it stand out.

What a beautiful love story

This was such an amazing, sweet story. I really wish that someone would have warned me about the endning. I cried more than i have ever cried over a book. Phew

I don't like tearjerkers. If you're not a fan of tearjerkers, this story might not be for you. I knew from the first chapter how the story would end but I finished it anyway. It was a good story. I liked it. I really don't like when books start with the ending because it brings down the mood for me. I'd rather see the progression of the relationship. Since the story opened with Avery in the hospital in critical condition, I kept thinking, "Aww I like this. Too bad he's going to die and Kane will be crushed." I know no one lives forever but opening the story with a potential death took away the happy feeling I would have had if it wasn't there. I wish Kane died when Avery did because it was painful seeing how it tore his children, especially his daughter, apart. Despite everything, it was a good story. It reminded me of The Notebook. I would recommend this if you enjoy epic romances that take you from the beginning to the end of the romance. It was nice seeing how they built their family and dealt with Kane's family. I also like how conflicted Kane was between his religion, sexuality and political beliefs.

omg the crying. I cried so much. knowing what I know now I wouldn't have read this book. honestly it just ripped my guts out. I can't handle it.

This is my first book by Gabrielle G and it won’t be my last!

Let me tell you that there are going to be lots of times when you want to scream, yell and throw your kindle at the wall from these characters but it is worth it! Stick with it cuz it is GOOD!

I absolutely LOVED Ian! There was just something about him that stuck with me and made me love him from his very first scene. For being an actor he is very laid back and doesn’t act like and actor haha.

Julie on the other hand took some time for me to love lol. It doesn’t happen too often that I have the love/hate relationship with the heroine but Julie made me want to shake her and make her see the right way! But in the end I TOTALLY understood why she was the way she was, and you will too once you read the whole book!

Overall Gabrielle is a new author that I am going to keep reading for life now!

5️⃣🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!

Really enjoyed the first half but couldn't deal with how self centered Julie was. DNF at 77%.

I was crying in the last few chapters because of the feels this book was giving me. I'm pretty sure you'd also cry (if not then idk) because when you read this book it's like you're with them in their journey and all the emotions are conveyed and you feel them when you read them. I don't know if I make sense to you but you'll understand me when you read it. Just. Do. It.

When I read a book and rate it, my rating is based on how I feel as I read the book and the feelings that are elicited as the story reaches it's conclusion. I don't perform any sort of complex literary critique, I can cope with grammatical and spelling mistakes to a degree, I can relate to stories that are outside the norm - it is all about how the story makes me feel.

With this one, I was somewhat prepared for the emotions. The social media hype - Goodreads, Facebook - let me know that I could expect tears and the introduction supported that big time! But as the story started to unfold, I doubted what I'd heard. I'd stayed away from reading reviews but this was an emotional tear-jerker, wasn't it?

Don't get me wrong, Avery and Kane were great characters. They had so much love and the story was compelling as their love supported them through the American politics landscape. But I wasn't feeling anything exceptional about these obviously, very much in love guys. But somehow I found they had sneaked up on me because surely, only characters you were deeply invested in could cause such tears! I'm not talking about getting a bit weepy, I'm talking about half an hour of solid tears, multiple tissues, blocked nose and a headache. Not to mention the teenage daughter who thought something serious had gone wrong!

So yes, this book is about the ending. It is about the pure emotional response. It is about love and soul mates. But the ending isn't exactly what you expect. Read it - I dare you!

A copy of this book was provided by the author in return for my honest review. I don't know whether to thank her or send her a bill for the kleenex!
