3.5 stars/ way better than I expected given the kind of patchy start. I really like Quinn and James. They're quite adorable and I'm interested in more of their story.

I appreciated how much I learned about being a librarian! It spoke to my bibliophile self. However, it took 100 pages to finally get into the spy/thrilling part of the book and then it dragged. The romance between Quinn and James is sweet and very tame, to the point where I could see them ending their relationship as just friends. While it is cute and fluffy, I won’t be reading the rest of the series.

This is the kind of book I used to think romance novels were and the pro-CIA just isn’t where I am emotionally anymore. The emotional stakes are kinda confusing, they ratchet up way too quickly even with the high adrenaline experience. The chemistry between the characters is kinda lacking and there’s actually no sex, it’s a pg rated book. It does uplift librarians though, and that’s a positive

This is a sweet, cozy-yet-thrilling spy romance. Sometimes the writing tells more than it shows, but overall the pacing is good. The characters are believable but I wish

. The romance is fun, and the plot isn't just an incidental addition between romps in bed. The author has clearly done her research. I had an idea that the ending twist would be what it was, but it didn't spoil my enjoyment at all (though I figured out early on how Quinn

). Don't be put off by the pink cover. You'll fall for the characters and enjoy this little escapade. I'm looking forward to more of Quinn and James!

Charming! Written by an actual librarian, so the librarian stuff is surprisingly, refreshingly accurate! Also, this much more focused on the detective-y part rather than the romance part; they only do it right at the end and then it's all off screen, so be aware.

I've read my fair share of spy/mystery novels and this book has one of the best cliffhangers at the end. The story develops nicely and you're never left wondering when the author is going to pick up the pace. The main characters could use a little more depth - I didn't feel like I really got to know them. That being said, they are believable as far as ass-kicking, incredibly good-looking spies go.
Looking forward to the next one in the series.

Just a fun romp all the way around. A few moments had me rolling my eyes, but overall, it kept me grinning and flipping pages. Both the plot and the romance were done well (I like smart characters who communicate like grownups and make competent decisions, and both held their own). Can't wait to read more from this author since a blurb in the back looks like more installments of Quinn and James's adventures will be forthcoming.

And finally, as a librarian, I really appreciated that the cover is blissfully free of glasses and buns or stern shushing faces.
