I wasn’t sure what to expect but this memoir was so well written. Ms Tina did not only tell us her life story but the story of her family and through that the history of Black America as well. I loved hearing how her experiences shaped her and how she has grown to be her own secure and accomplished woman.

ms tina!! this is a beautiful celebration of life, love, lessons learned, and above all, black excellence! 

i felt so inspired reading about ms tina’s motivations, and her determination to follow her dreams. she seemingly found a way whenever obstacles appeared, and remained gracious. 

i also really appreciated how thoughtful ms tina was with sharing her story, and not oversharing the lives of others. i think it was very well thought out the ways she would protect her family’s privacy in a way  that honors them. 

ms tina’s story was incredible, and the adversary that she overcame was truly inspiring. excellent read!!!

Listened to this on audio book (Spotify) surprisingly enjoyable and not as expected. Although it's called Matriarch, I didn't realise it was literally about motherhood. pleasantly enjoyed the fact it wasn't a tell all about mothering Beyonce but more about how mothering has affected her and therefore how she has gone on to mother her children and then herself. A lovely book that looks into the different ways one can mother.
