I like the Renée Ballard books. Brings something fresh to the Bosch-iverse. I did immediately know who the killer was, but that’s more from a place of personally detesting the profession the killer is engaged with than any flaw in the book.

This is a solid Renee Ballard novel. I really enjoyed the Black Dahlia angle and appreciated Maddie Bosch’s involvement. The character Colleen got on my nerves throughout, so I felt a little guilty for cringing every time she appeared—especially by the end. All in all, it’s a great story.
