I like the Ballard books better than the regular Bosch series or the Lincoln Lawyer series! This is a few mysteries all mushed together to fluff out an entire book - and the Maddie story is the best one.

Renee Ballard continues to be my least favorite of Connolly's characters, but I still really enjoy the mystery and the story!

It's not that I liked this Ballard story more than others, but having read a few other crime books by other authors in between I am just in awe of how many stories Connelly manages to fit into this one book. The pacing is perfect, and for that alone it deserves the 4 stars. I also love the Bosch/Ballard relationship in this one, even if Bosch isn't as present a character. Feel like reading classic crime fiction.

This book is so all over the place. I almost thought that might be more realistic but by the end it just feels like the whole plot was mashed together.
