I didn’t really like serilda, she was too absent minded. The last 10% was good but also so weird. There were a lot of loose ends that never got tied up. A lot of times i would pick up this book to read but then put it back down because my brain was too tired to untangle what was happening. Also why am i rooting for the erlking

Not my favorite of hers, but entertaining enough. Almost 4 stars- wish it would have been a stand alone story though.

I love Marissa Meyer’s writing and stories. This world was super interesting and I was drawn in very quickly. The only thing that frustrated me was how naive the main character was. A lot of things could’ve been avoided if she just thought how things would work out in the long term. Obviously it could be attributed to her being 18, but still 😭 she even said how she knew the extent of what the king was capable of. I’ll read the second book because I want to know how everything works out, but I am very annoyed by Serilda and hope she uses her brain in the future. :) or perhaps everyone will be better off if she STOPS making decisions lol

This is book 1.
You have been warned.
.
It's not the Lunar Chronicles, but it is still enjoyable and engaging. It is, however, actually quite dark.
