The fact that I need to wait until March 2025 for the final book of this duology should be classified as a crime after that cliffhanger.
This was a really fun vampire fantasy, that is a true slow burn (I’m talking, nothing happens here except angst).

I loved this one. It felt so much more mature than the "Serpent and dove" trilogy.
However, I find Celie a bit... Not so bright. Some things were just below her nose and she missed them completely. Plus I guessed who dlthe villain is by the middle of the book.
But I loved the vampires and how Celie emotionally matures.
Great read. Can't wait for the second one.

"The Scarlet Veil" had this awesome vampire vibe, and I was really digging the Russian names and French words thrown in. But, there's a hitch – it kicks off assuming you're in the loop with another series, which I haven't read.
Honestly, not much unfolds in the story, and the side characters felt a bit two-dimensional. It took some time to get into the flow. But, the romantic part was pretty sweet and kept things interesting. Overall, if you're into vampire love stories, it's worth a shot. Just be ready for a slow start and characters that don't quite steal the show.

DNF. I listened to the 1 and 2 in the Serpent and Do e series but DNF the 3rd one. Sadly I didn’t enjoy this one and couldn’t finish. I didn’t like the main character or plot line. When I give reviews like this or say DNF it doesn’t mean the author isn’t good, it just means I didn’t enjoy it. If you liked her other series then give this one a go.
