I read Serpent and Dove and that trilogy (and I did enjoy them) mostly so I could read this book and I am so glad I did. This is one of the best books in YA I have read in a while. Romance isn't exactly the main focus whereas in the other trilogy it does feel more of a focus, however the way the found family trope continued on made me so happy. It also meant the enemies to sort-of lovers grew more naturally.

This book is amazing. I haven’t read the author’s previous series so I was a little confused for a while reading this one, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I love Célie & Michal so much and I hope they get their eternity together eventually. I don’t know how I’m going to survive until the second book comes out.
