I rented this from the library primarily to hear about Kelly’s year in space in more detail, and that was what I found most interesting in the book, 4 stars. The other sections (roughly half) were interesting in their own right, as they’re about many experiences I will never have, but I could have been happy with just the year in space reflections (written in the present, almost as a journal). The audiobook was read by the author, which I enjoy for autobiographies/memoirs, though Kelly’s tone can be a bit boring at times.

A really cool memoir by astronaut Scott Kelly, the veteran of four space flights and the American record holder for consecutive days spent in space. This was a relatively long audiobook - 13 hours/400 pages, however I flew through this in one day. This was totally out of my comfort zone but I’m so glad I hit play. Listened via Libby, speed 1.55x
Few people have the authority to write a book like this one and Scott did so brilliantly. It's suspenseful, humorous and sometimes intense, and overall an incredible peek into a unique adventure only a fraction of people have experienced.
Gets an average rating from me because I was not really interested. Love reading sci-fi that includes extensive space travel by various species that have mastered this quest. On the other hand, this account of incremental progress toward being successful in space mainly reminds me of the current situation of needing to shelter-in-place because of Covid-19.
It’s interest, training, dedication, persistence, excellent attention to the finest of details, support of crew, and yes, endurance to accomplish the mission and stay healthy that are of interest here, to me. The human status quo does not trend upward in space—as humans have a hard time with masks and distancing and self-quarantining.

4.5 stars! This book was so interesting. I loved the way Kelly told the story, easy to understand and follow, the aerospace terms in comprehend-able language.
I also loved just the study of humanity that’s behind this story. Of course, you learn a lot spending a year in space, not only scientifically, but about yourself, what’s important to you, where we stand in the universe, and what to take for granted. I really enjoyed this audiobook.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. It might have been because I remember a lot of the things that happened during his year in space from working console, but I loved hearing his perspective on things. He does get a bit grumpy in the book, but I felt he was very honest.
This is a book I probably never would have picked up & decided to read on my own, so I am very happy one of my friends chose it for us all to read this month. I enjoyed it way more than I anticipated (another book I didn't want to put down!), as Space has never been a huge interest of mine. It was incredibly interesting and definitely intrigued the scientist side of me. Also just the amount of cool things that Scott Kelly has done is extremely impressive & inspiring!
The only downside of the book, in my opinion, is that it didn't go much into the results of his year in Space. I understand why, as he mentions at the end that all that data is still being processed and it'll take decades to fully know what it all means, but the scientist in me is extremely curious (I'll probably end up trying to find more information about it online). Overall though I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

I really enjoy reading astronaut biographies and Scott Kelly's Endurance is super. It's got everything you need, including giving you a real sense of the wonder and difficulties (both technical and human) in exploring space. I highly recommend it.
