It's not often that I enjoy movies more than the book, but again I find myself preferring the movie adaptation. Malcolm being brought back to life just so Crichton could ramble about chaos theory felt disappointing as I was looking forward to seeing how they were going to do the book without him, but clearly MC has a fave character. I also found it uninspired that Malcom ended high and useless to the wider team again. I did like that Sarah was way hardier and was happy with the death of the trex infant, vs how she was portrayed in the movie. But the whole chase with the cage was so unrealistic. Also just cause Thorne could pick the cage up easily empty doesn't mean it would be easy with an unconscious teen in it. overall pretty lack luster but still worth a read for the nostalgia factor imo
I thought that this book was a great follow-up to a very intriguing first thriller. The characters were interesting to watch, and the premise was surprisingly different enough in order for some of the scare tactics and plot devices not to get old.

Crichton did not want to write this book and it shows. Still a fun read, if a bit disjointed, and I've used the comparison of evolutionary models in job interviews.

It’s got that good suspense and fun character setup that you liked in Jurassic Park, but a little too much predictability, and the thesis is muddier. From what I understand Crichton was coerced into this sequel.
