Moriarty continues to astound.
I was completely immersed in this text, with the complexity of the characters seeping into my daily routine. I felt exactly like Saskia; I needed to know exactly what Patrick and Ellen were doing.

mysterious
It was just meh. I like the character development and how they matured but the story itself fell short. Her other books have been such page turners but this was pretty sluggish. I kept wanting for something to happen and it never really did.
Another story from Liane Moriarty that kept me interested from start to finish.
Entertaining right from the start and easy to read. It was interesting to learn a bit more about hypnotism, a subject I have always found fascinating. I also liked how she focused on the stalker and made her human, showing what could drive a normal person to such abnormal behavior. I found myself wanting to see her healed more than even wanting to see the romance work out. Unfortunately, I felt like the story was constantly on the verge of something shocking happening and it never did. I found it a bit anti-climatic but nice escapism.
A good palate cleanser after several dark reads for Bookclub.
My favorite part of this story was the in-depth portrayal of the inner turmoil and struggles of the stalker herself. Rather than using stalking as a trope, the author has portrayed the immense difficulties of love lost. The main character, Ellen, wasn’t as dimensional. 400 pages was long, and the story dragged in the middle. Reminds me though to get back into hypnotherapy, it did work for me

I tend to have a bit of a mixed reaction to Moriarty. A few have really stunned, but most are like this one, where they get 'thisclose' but have a few big clangs. This one mostly works, but the whole thing with the newspaper article and the aggrieved mogul was just too much. Otherwise, I ended up liking this a lot more than I expected to, given the topic.
funny
I’m always surprised by how this author can really delve into the psyche of issues while keeping things light and relatable. Really enjoyed this book.
