I’m always surprised by how this author can really delve into the psyche of issues while keeping things light and relatable. Really enjoyed this book.
This is the third Moriarty book I’ve read but the one I enjoyed the least. Didn’t like any of the characters. The hypnotist is in a new relationship with someone who has a stalker. Not much else to it.

2.5 -A bit of a disappointment coming from Liane Moriarty. I love her writing and dialogue, but one of my favorite things about her books is along with the witty writing and characters, there usually a really deep plot or twist. This was all buildup and then the book just ended. More like an elevator ride than a roller coaster.
I love this book! Morriarty did a great job developing the characters and the plot. Ellen, the protagonist and main character is a hypnotist with a new love life and the baggage it brings: single father whose widowed with a stalker. It was predictable that the stalker was 'Deborah' but the chain of events that followed were not and were very intriguing. I like how each chapter switched between Ellen and Saskia, so you get to learn more about the stalker and her reasoning. I have never been to a hypnotist before so tidbits about the trade (whether it's fact or fiction) were also quite interesting. And last but not least, there's a happy ending. I highly recommend this book.

This has been a Liane Moriarty year for me and this one is my favorite!
The Hypnotist's Love Story is about Ellen O'Farrell, a hypnotist in her mid-thirties who begins dating a man named Patrick. Little does she know, Patrick's ex Saskia hasn't given up on him yet and has been stalking him for several years now.
I wouldn't call this book a traditional love story, or really a love story at all. It's a book about a woman who is navigating serious relationships in adulthood and another who is dealing with trauma and can't let go of the past.
I think what I enjoyed most about this book is the structure, it goes back and forth between Ellen and Saskia's points of view. It reminded me of Big Little Lies in this way, lots of perspective shifts and cliffhangers. For this reason, this book also worked great on audio. I sincerely enjoyed this book, while I don't think its the most literary of Moriarty's novels, it is an enjoyable read that manages to keep you on the edge of your seat while addressing serious topics at the same time.

This was a good listen on Audible while walking the dogs.

I liked this one, though I didn’t love it. I’m trying not to judge non-thrillers for, essentially, not being thrillers, but I wanted a little bit ✨more✨ to happen. I thought the hypnotism element was fun and interesting but, again, I feel like more could’ve been done with it.
Overall, I still enjoyed this read. Liane Moriarty has been one of my most-read authors of the year thus far, so if you’re looking for something cozy and fun, I definitely recommend this one!
