A Liane Moriarty book is never complete without a cosy cafe, a deceased parent or two or five, gossiping girlfriends, kindie mummies, terrifyingly boisterous children, a shocking twist or two, and a generous sprinkle of coincidence. This one was no exception. It's just so feel-good to read these things. The problem here—that I didn't have with the other 2 Moriarty works that I've read—was that I didn't find any of the characters particularly likable. Patrick was shockingly dull (normal), Jack was the token quirky child but not to any extreme, Saskia oscillated between being pathetic and psychotic, Ellen was too spacey, and I couldn't read about her friend Madeleine without thinking it was the Madeleine from Big Little Lies. Caveats aside—these books are such great fun to read. One thing I must know: are all these stories interconnected? Do all of Moriarty's characters live in the same world? I feel like sometimes they are just on the verge of intersection, only to swerve and barely miss meeting...

The title is pretty spot-on for everything that happens in this book. It’s a story about a hypnotist that is in love. Like literally nothing else happens. An idea of a conflict happens, then just as easily resolves. The ending was idiotic. And I am not sure why it took 400 pages to tell me no story. 2 stars because I actually finished - waiting for an interesting story to start.
I liked this! It had everything- intrigue, romance and mystery. A solid read! The best Moriarty book I’ve read this far.
