Loved it! One of my favorites from the author thus far! Recommend!
I couldn’t decide whose side to be on in this book. It was enjoyable enough but nothing mind-blowing. No twist that makes you gasp out loud. This is the second book I’ve read by this author and both times I’ve thought the story could use some trimming.
This wasn't nearly as good as her other books. I enjoyed it, but it didn't capture me or entertain me like I had hoped.
This is the story of Ellen, a hypnotherapist, who is at the beginning of a relationship with the widowed, single father Patrick. Oh, and Patrick has a stalker ex-girlfriend, Saskia. Saskia is also one of Ellen's clients, but we don't know which one until about halfway through the book. The POV changes throughout between Saskia's first person and Ellen's third person. Sometimes it's. It clear who we're actually supposed to be rooting for (which I like, honestly).
There are a lot of interesting secondary characters that I wish we could have gotten to know better and subplots that could have added to the story but instead felt like they were tacked on.
Again, not the strongest of Liane Moriarty's work, but I still pretty much liked it.

Another great story from Liane Moriarty. I appreciate how she weaves story lines throughout the lives of the characters.
I love the worlds Moriarty sets up in her books. The characters are so real - interesting but often infuriating, and I find myself thinking about them long after I finish the book. Can’t wait to read more from her.
slow-paced
Oh the angst in this book!
Again, Moriarty has managed to bring to the story people who have honest emotions.
That said, maybe I was in the wrong frame of mind, because that bugged me this time instead of being enjoyable!
A couple of good quotes in the book that did resonate with me though:
"Rejection... was so tough on the Inner Child. Fears of abandonment, memories of past hurts, feelings of inferiority and self-loathing, all rose to the surface in an unstoppable torrent of feeling"
(while this talks about romantic rejection, I reckon this is true for all kinds of rejection)
And I can't find the other one nearer the end of the book.

Not the author's best. The premise was so viscerally upsetting that I had a difficult time connecting with Moriarty's signature humor... Mostly, I was stressed out, even though I enjoyed reading this book, which does not make for the best escapism.
