I already said this in another review I did today but... romance is not character development.
Stephanie bumbles her way into solving the crime and through her relationship with Morelli. The book has enough funny moments to keep the next one on my hold list.

This series is starting to get more enjoyable with each book. Since the characters are familiar, more can be done with the plot which is nice. I had no idea how this book was going to end, and it ended quite nicely with the twist.

Book three of the Stephanie Plum series is a solid follow up to the first two books. I enjoyed it slightly more than either the first or the second. I laughed out loud at one point while reading this book, but I didn't mark it down, and now do not remember what passage I found so funny.
I did mark one passage that I enjoyed the author's description - "The cement stoop was littered with globules of rock salt that had eaten their way through yesterday's ice, leaving a doily of frozen gray slush." Being from the Northeast, I've seen gray slush doilies created by rock salt before, and the description is perfect.
Stephanie's on again off again relationship with Morelli was mostly off in this book (with the notable exception of one scene on Morelli's kitchen floor). Instead, she spent some much needed time with Ranger, trying to learn to be better at her job. She still stumbled through most of the book, though.

I love this series. Hilarious, chaotic, and just an overall fun read
I have a lot of problems with this novel... but I think most of them stem from the fact that lady expectations in the 90s were very different than they are now.
Also that Stephanie Plum is terrible at her job. Like, the worst.
But at the same time, I want to know what happens in the next twenty books. So I guess I'm roped in now.

Definitely fun! Not high art, but a trashy good time. Sometimes I'm embarrassed by how much I love this series. They are definitely a guilty pleasure. I picked it up with no expectations and like most of Evanovich's books found this to be the best approach. If all you are looking for is a fast paced, raunchy and fluffy read this is definitely a good series to pick up.
I like this series and was inspired to read this one by the recent movie, which isn't bad but not as good as the books. This one has as interesting plot and the usual humor which occasionally has me lol. My favorite scene is when she's chasing a suspect through the mall with her hair in tin foil from the hair dresser.
