Retelling of The Turn of the Screw. V spooky and tells what happens before and after the days of the governess at the manor. absolutely chilling!

Some continuity issues. sometimes difficult to know whose voice/story one is reading and at what point of life one is at.

A haunted manor, star crossed lovers, a good guy to save the day – what more could you ask for in a wonderfully creepy gothic thriller set in the 1940s and in modern day? How about a really great surprise ending?

Gothic horror with modern twist

This book reminded me so much of The Haunting of Bly Manor. It was an even better version of that show (I haven’t read the book yet). I don’t really go for Generational novels but the two time periods work so well in it. This book doesn’t bring a lot to the gothic horror genre but it delivers it masterfully.

I would not recommend due to inappropriate content.
However the book in and of itself was well written and engaging though at times boring.

Hauntingly beautiful....

When Rachel inherits a home in England, she is not sure what to think. She has often wondered about her family, and the elusive house seems to hold more mysteries than answers. As Rachel travels to England to learn more about her family and past, she is swept into the harsh past and the dangers that the house holds, but there seems to be more lurking than just unanswered questions...

Pros:
What a beautiful story! I sat and read this in one sitting, and could not put it down! Alice, Laura, Rachel - their stories intertwine, and yet there is one piece that everyone seems to overlook! Oh my! A great read! Get this one on your to read list now!

Cons:
There were several unanswered questions. Who was talking to the twins? Why did they act they way they did? These were just a few of the questions that I had over the book - there seemed to be some major drops.

Fabulous book, proper page turner where the lives of three women from different timelines collide. The book keeps reader guessing throughout all the way until the end with a surprising twist.
