This book was fascinating. I'm so glad I read it and so glad Susannah got the help she needed. Man, it was a page turner and scary at the same time.

I haven't read this much of a page turner in a while. You can knock this out on one non-work day, no problem. Maybe not a super great book for someone who is always 60% sure they're dying (it me), but totally fascinating.

This true memoir is about Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis which was not an enjoyable read for me and must be of interest to my book club members as many seem to be enjoying the schadenfreude experiences of enjoying the misery of others. Zero entertainment value!
The author proposes that many who are deemed to be possessed or subjects for exorcisms may actually be subjected to the disease and she thinks they can even miraculously speak Latin and have other bizarre symptoms.

What an experience!

This book was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so glad it was. Mrs. Cahalan's story is amazing! I highly recommend this book to everyone. It's simply an amazing story and a great read.

2.5 - Might be biased being more familiar with a healthcare background but felt like parts of this were a little cringey and hard to read. Felt like it dragged on a lot in the middle and rushed at the end to talk about her life after recovering, just found myself pretty disengaged from about halfway through

Both the quality of writing and fascinating story made this such an enjoyable read.

What a WILD memoir. I cannot believe this truly happened and happens to others. The brain is such a mystery and so very powerful.

i think it takes an incredible amount of vulnerability and courage to write a book this open
