I want to like this series more but it's hard too bra sue it's so typical and though I've only read two there are so many similarities. They say you can tell a lot about the person who's writing you're reading and so far this author has some things going on with food, since that's such a big thing in both books. I don't know... I just want to like them and keep reading but it's hard.
1.5 Clasturfuck stars..!
I really don't know what I just read! I was immensely interested in knowing Cuba and Dovey's story. I liked the prologue a lot. But this books fucks with your mind...!!!
Mark my words its gonna creep up inside your brain and blow it up..!!
I for the life of me could not would understand why they behaved like they did. Now, I completely accept that the author's writing style is different and Very Bad Things was also a bit out of the norm, but Nora and Leo I connected with. Cuba and Dovey with their ridiculous names drove me to crazytown..!!!
I will just a list of things that did not work for me here:
1. They do not get together until just the last chapter.
2. Cuba treats Dovey like an asshole.
3. Spider is most definitely mentally imbalanced.
4. Dovey is positively crazy. Her monologue's just don't make sense. She's like a pendulum. Maybe be intriguing but will give you a headache.
5. No defined moment at all. From beginning to start it was a mindfuck. All spiraling events put together. I kid you not.! I got pain in my head reading this..!!
So not what I expected Cuba's story to be. I was even ready to forget the aurther for her ludicrous christening of names. But Cuba proved just as ridiculous as his name.
I can bitch about this book for ever so I will do you all a favour and end my ramblings now. Normally I suggest people to read the book and make their own opinion. But I can't for this book. Nope, just can't..!!
Anyway the 1.5 stars is for Sebastian ( I do have hope left for him! Call me crazy but want to read
his book.) and some fortunate good dialogues. At least the author knows her English..! ;)

This one is difficult. I hated the first 65% but absolutely loved the last of it. The beginning felt like too much past present past present almost like I missed a whole novel but I read very wicked beginnings. Then all of a sudden it just started to flow for me and I fell in love with the last of it. My only rec. is that this book is for over 17. While it takes place in high school it is very adult in its content.
**4.5 stars
Would have liked to see a few more chapters with them as a couple. I loved their story overall, so far it's my favorite in this series! I'm excited for Sebastian's story!

First of all, even there was this whole rich/poor conflict, it was just nearly too much, which means, still good for me. I could work better with the characters, I loved that the author did not invent an scenario in which there's always an easy way out. Dovey had to make a few rough decision and she was not saved from them. I could relate to Doveys and Cubas lovestory better, than to the couple in [b:Very Bad Things|17836829|Very Bad Things (Briarcrest Academy, #1)|Ilsa Madden-Mills|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1370957259s/17836829.jpg|24958212] because it wasn't as sexed up and crazy, more relateable.
After reading the little prequel novella to Cuba and Dovey's story I was mega hyped for this. But in the end it kinda let me down. It was a bit too much like the first book in this series. Manwhore hero who doesn't think he deserves to be loved. I did really care for Dovey and her story which was really sweet. And I wanted to love Cuba. I did in the first instalment of this series, but he let me down.
I love this whole series! Angsty high school love with lots of plot twists!
Terrible. It's trying to add in real life problems with a plethora of teen drama that is irrelavent at times
For a steamy New Adult contemporary romance, I highly recommend Very Wicked Things. I read the first book in the series a while back, but each novel can be read as a standalone I believe since they feature different couples. Cuba and Dovey were a great couple with so much chemistry.
I really liked the romance in this book. I felt like Cuba and Dovey sizzled together in each scene they shared. Their relationship has a lot of angst, but I empathized with both of their situations. From the outside, their lives seemed so different, but I liked the way the author showed how each were facing their own unique struggles.
The only thing I didn’t love was the good girl/man whore stuff. I don’t know why, but I think the dynamic is feeling a little tired for me. I still liked Cuba, but I’m just getting over how many books feature a reformed player.
I do really enjoy this series. After I already read the book, I realized there is a prequel. I’m thinking I should’ve picked it up to get more of a feel for Cuba since he only makes a quick cameo in Very Bad Things.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the novel for review!
