I love comedy and am bipolar myself. I have not been able to connect with Bamford’s comedy. I was hoping this book would be different, I still couldn’t connect. Fans of her work will like this and she is very upfront when she is recycling material. If you don’t like her work this will not win you over.

Not my humor. But for someone else it is and that’s what’s important.

I love Maria Bamford so much and, according to her book, she loves me, so the feeling is mutual. This is a great memoir for anyone who has been into Bamford's humor before. It is like a really long comedy special that isn't always funny, but is always interesting.

I wasn't sure how to rate this book, but as someone with intrusive thought OCD this book is definitely five stars for me. This book might not be for everyone, but I really loved it.
Maria is a skilled voice actor with impeccable comedic timing and she narrates the audio book. So already wow amazing 👏
The structure was a little all over the place but weirdly not hard to follow.
I was already a fan of Maria Bamford's work, so I really enjoyed the autobiographical/behind the scenes content.
However, personally the most impactful parts of this book were the earnest and candid discussions about ODC. This mental illness can be both debilitating and isolating. I really related to that need to belong almost anywhere.
Maria, I don't know if your book made me feel better exactly (we know it's not that simple). But it did make me feel seen and it made me feel less alone. Thank you ❤️
PS I was walking along a trail while listening to this book and saw some bears! BEARS!! WTF I did panick but did not die 🐻 So there's that too I guess.

Incredible how much unrelenting detail is given. So intimate with her experiences and actions with mental health that you understand why she is so self punishing even though you self punish in the same way. And the fact that it’s slime princess is cool too. I recommend listening on audiobook
