I laughed a ton and cried a ton. Karen and Georgia are so wonderfully human. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book, even though I’ve listened to a ton of their podcast. I’d say it’s a little less how to “Stay sexy and don’t get murdered” and more reminders that we are all very human and we all experience so much. While they seem somewhat confident on the podcast, it was a nice reminder that they were both still struggling as adults before it came along. As an almost 30 year old who has very few close friends and hardly any idea what I want to do with my life, it was a heart-felt reminder that there is hope for new close friendships and change and finding what works for me in the future. Ugh it was good. I’d recommend this book even if you haven’t listened to the podcasts, you might not completely get everything, but the lessons still carry over well in a very real, and occasionally funny way.
Don’t miss this one and share it with your daughters/nieces, really any young person in your orbit. It’s a, no-bullshit fact memoir written in the most accessible and funny way.
And for the bonus points…there is the true crime tang to give you your umami fix.

Being a 13 year old girl is definitely the worst experience in the world + fuck politeness
Every bit as hilarious and insightful as I expected. These women are my heroes.
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I have always been interested in their life pre podcast just based off the little pieces they've shared. This was an emotional read at times but not too heavy.
This felt like I was sitting in a room with Karen and Georgia and just got to talk to them for a few hours. But at the same time, it felt like a really good therapy session. If you enjoy the podcast, you’ll love this.
I love Karen and Georgia and religiously listen to My Favorite Murder! There were many times that I laughed out loud as I was reading this book and felt like I was in a room, having a conversation with Karen and Georgia. Some chapters fell flat for me and I caught myself skimming the pages instead of immersed in the read. Over all, I would recommend this book to someone who already loves their podcast and wants to get to know them better. As a stand alone book I don’t know if some of my friends or family would find it as interesting.

I was listening to the audiobook of this on a whim. I don’t listen to their podcast, so I am not the right audience for this book. Even so, I found it entertaining. But then it was due back to the library. And I don’t think I will check it out again to finish it.
