It was fun, but I also don’t listen to the podcast so I think the connection between me and the authors just wasn’t there.

If you’re expecting a gritty true crime book with lots of pictures of dead bodies, you should probably just get the f*** out right now. But if you’re already a murderino, or if you’re interested in hearing real talk from real people about anxiety, stress, and mental health; how the past forms us; and how we can blaze our own trail to who we want to be and where we want to go (with bits of crime here and there for teachable moments) this is the guide for you.

I listened to the audiobook of this, and while the physical copy does have some heartwarming photos, nothing beats hearing Karen and Georgia (and Paul Giamatti) talk. Having been a listener of the podcast since the very beginning, I have loved seeing every step of the journey and their voices and conversation is like sinking into a warm bubble bath at the end of a difficult day.

It is witty, humorous, relatable, and everything you’d imagine a book born of My Favorite Murder to be. But most importantly, it gives some actual advice—I felt some real wake-up moments while listening, a few things I even had to rewind back to hear again.

Love, love, must recommend.

As a giant fan of MFM, I am so happy I was finally able to get my hands on this book. Karen and Georgia truly feel like friends to me and this book is written exactly as they speak. Their stories are vulnerable and funny and full of lessons. I loved every page.

Die erste Hälfte habe ich sehr genossen. Danach gab es nur halbe Ratschläge die sehr viele Seiten in Anspruch genommen haben. Hätte mir mehr Favorite Murder Stories gewünscht.

(sometimes drunk) conversations with female friends

It's actually kind of 3 stars, but it felt wrong, so here we are.

This book is about the authors' past struggles and reads like some memoirs. Which is fine, but I think many non-fans would maybe expect something else from the title (which is amazing, by the way). BUT the discussion around said experiences is ... instructive ... enough. The tone is humorous in a pleasant way. I got them! And it was great to hear about some 80s and 90s vibes - latchkey kids and such. I do have a lot of love for respectful true crime aficionados.

And I'm really glad these two managed to make something out of nothing and inspire thousands (or maybe millions?, idk :D) of their fans.

“I think its good to just say what you're thinking out loud. Some guy comes up to you on the street and starts asking a bunch of personal questions, you can say 'Whoa, this is weird behavior, I don't know you. You seem like a predator.' If he gets mad and calls you a "bitch", it doesn't mean you're a bitch, it just means you were right."

God, I really love Karen and Georgia.

And they’ve been through some serious sh*t, man. I just want to hug them.

This book really encapsulates the main lessons of MFM: you are never as weird and alone as you think you are, trust your gut, don’t be afraid to make yourself vulnerable, and more. It’s so authentically in their voices and also dives deeper into stories they’ve already mentioned on the show. I also like that a non-listener could pick this up and get a kick out of it without even hearing about MFM first. It’s definitely meant for Murderinos, but not exclusively, ya feel?

Anyway, I would die on a battlefield for Karen and Georgia.

SSDGM!

I actually read this before ever listening to any of the My Favorite Murder podcast episodes and still enjoyed it. This is a memoir by both Karen and Georgia, and their chapters alternate with both of them writing around the same theme from their own perspective. It was well-organized and interesting, though I did occasionally forget whose section I was reading since both women have been through some similar issues and do both have similar writing styles.

i'm approximately 200 episodes behind on the my favorite murder podcast, but this book is basically everything i love about it rolled into one. yes, it's a little light on the murder, but that's okay!! it definitely makes me want to make an effort to start listening again because karen and georgia are so funny and wise and i want them to both be my cool fun aunts who give me life advice. (and also, you know, share my true crime obsession.) anyway... this was great!

I love these women and I love this podcast and community so freaking much it’s insane.
