a good read. wouldn't recommend it to people who aren't fans of the podcast, but i think it has some really fun times in it, and some good messages
funny and interesting, just not sure where it was going. Will eventually come back and finish it.

As an avid fan of all things true crime, I have binge-listened to many shows including And That's Why We Drink or binge-watched shows like Forensic Files and Cold Case Files . I had seen My Favorite Murder pop up on my Spotify's suggested podcast list many times, but wasn't sure if it would be something I would enjoy.
On a whim, after having finished The 8th Confession by James Patterson, I was looking for another book to listen to. I needed something in the realm of true crime that would make my job as an Accounting Professional a little less dull. Then, I found this book. It was everything that I didn't think it would be and everything I didn't know I needed to hear. I related to this book in so many ways.
Now that I have completed this book, I believe my binge-listening of My Favorite Murder will begin. :)

I just enjoy listening to Karen and Georgia talk about things. I thought this book might be more about murder or even the My Favorite Murder podcast, but I didn't mind hearing about Karen and Georgia's lives or the lessons they've learned over the years. If you enjoy their podcast, there's no question you'll enjoy their book.
I love Georgia and Karen so much... if anything this book really upped my appreciation of Georgia in particular. Heartfelt and lovely, they could have called this thing in, but they really didn't.
"EVERYONE HAS AN AGENDA. No matter who it is: your aunt, the government, raccoons. We're all just out here in the world trying to get what we want. You are, too. It's not necessarily a bad thing. It's also not permanent. You can change your agenda at any time. Just don't let anyone convince you to put your agenda aside in place of theirs, even if they claim to have all the answers. Especially if they claim to have all the answers."
Oh Karen! You are so very wise!!
I'm a very recent My Favorite Murder Murderino but I've always been a Murderino. I took a break for about 14 years after witnessing a horrific murder but that fascination was still always there, it was just that my anxiety wouldn't allow me to fall down rabbit holes like murderpedia or websleuths until a copy of [b:I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer|35068432|I'll Be Gone in the Dark One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer|Michelle McNamara|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1499131009l/35068432._SY75_.jpg|56363890] made it's way to me in February which led me to the podcast My Favortie Murder, which led to me binging all 186 episodes and 138 minisodes in a little over a month. True crime, comedy and in depth discussions about anxiety, showing me for the first time that there are a lot of people out there just like me. They love true crime and they suffer from anxiety and weirdly knowing about these true crimes helps with that anxiety. Also they like to laugh and hear cats asking for cookies and get attached to phrases like 'fuck politeness' and 'you're in a cult, call your dad!'.
The book reads kind of like blog posts and is full of the usual Karen and Georgia pearls of wisdom. It's also got a lot of them being vulnerable which we don't often hear on the show. Karen talking about her mother's illness and death was difficult and beautiful in it's own way and Georgia talking about her struggle with finding herself in general was as sad as it was uplifting.
I did a Buzzfeed quiz recently to find out who I was most like. Not surprisingly I got Georgia. When she talked about getting her heart properly broken for the first time, I knew for a fact that Buzzfeed is eerily accurate. I'd love to have Karen's take no shit approach to everything but I'm without a doubt a lazy, any excuse for day drinking, fall hard, anxiety ridden cat lady. And you know what? I wouldn't change any of it! :D
“I’m a hustler and I work hard, but being a lazy person is my default. It’s what I do best. I’m a champion napper—I’ve even taken a nap in the Louvre among other weird places. I love chilling and day drinking and taking it fucking easy. But as it turns out, I’m not retired just yet, so I try my best to go against the lazy grain, which is why I always have multiple to-do lists going. Otherwise, I’ll to-don’t with everything and take a nap instead.”
Lovely book for hardcore Murderino's. I recommend the audio book because that's how we know them and well Paul Giamatti!!

I've stepped away from MFM for a while, but when I put this audiobook on just for fun, I remembered everything I loved about Karen and Georgia. Their voices are so funny and heartfelt, and I love listening to them recount stories that do feel vulnerable. They really do feel like our Murderino Moms....or, like, fun aunts. This is a great book for anyone who's ever been into the podcast, or anyone with an interest in true crime or memoirs.
I must've missed something here...
To be fair, I have never listened to their podcasts, but I'm not so sure I want to now.

Amazing and perfect. Love Karen and Georgia always.
