I must've missed something here...
To be fair, I have never listened to their podcasts, but I'm not so sure I want to now.

Amazing and perfect. Love Karen and Georgia always.
I loved this audiobook. It's nice to hear more about their lives when they grew up and who they grew up into. Made me love them even more for being so honest.
I don't know what I expected, but this book was, indeed, like the podcast. Okay, so not the murders part but more of the personal talk part, which, I believe, is the real reason the podcast took off. We can argue over whether or not true crime and comedy should be paired, but the end result was a podcast that made both Karen and Georgia vulnerable, and that vulnerability is what all of us listeners could relate to.
Expect a lot more personal info and some great fan art. I'm especially in love with Karen's writing style. Her section on Latchkey kids was just. . . something. She really, really makes her mother come alive, too.

Man, I LOVE the MFM podcast and I was so excited when my turn on the holds list at the library came up. Then I started reading. The first day I thought maybe I was just over tired and that’s why I could t follow the trajectory... but the second day I read alone, unbothered, on full sleep and wow, it just wasn’t very good.
The writing does not translate their humour well. I would go back to the chapter title to see what I was supposed to be reading and who was writing it.
The content was... unnecessary? I really don’t understand the purpose of the book! I know they talk about it like a memoir, but it’s not even really that!
The writing is poor and at times doesn’t make sense.
I’m very disappointed I didn’t like this book. I have been waiting since June to read it and I figured I would fly through it- out of keenness, not out of boredom.
I’ll stick with their amazing podcast! I’m a loyal listener and it’s too bad this book didn’t fit better into their repertoire

I really looked forward to this book. Seriously waited until it showed up on my doorstep from Amazon.
I profoundly loved Georgia’s writing/chapters. I’m fascinated by how she became who she is after being such a fan of the show and knowing her past struggles with her mom, her eating disorders, her anxiety, meth, etc.
I especially loved the very short section she wrote about Vince- her road to meet him reminded me of my own to meet my husband...worth the wait to find someone so wonderful!
Karen’s chapters didn’t seem as genuine, open, or novel for some reason to me. She seemed reserved, whereas Georgia felt like much more of an open book. I also wasn’t a fan of her writing in her chapters. During the podcast, I like hearing Karen tell her murders, as I think she’s a better storyteller with much better delivery. However, most of her stuff in the book was from the podcast. My favorite chapter of hers was her self-care chapter and the chapter about buying your own shit.
It was a quick read (one day, for me) with plenty of interesting anecdotes. Murderinos who listen to MFM and already feel like they’re friends with Karen and Georgia will love it! I’d say somewhere between 3-4 ⭐️, but I erred on the side of rounding up to give them 4 ⭐️!

i literally have no idea who these people are. i have no good reason for listening to this, but it wasn’t bad
This personal essay collection is more about the authors’ lives and less about their podcast and it’s content. It’s part dual memoir; part self-help book. From a marketing standpoint the title makes sense, and I know it’s their famous tagline, but it doesn’t quite fit the book’s purpose, IMO. I’m being hypercritical. It was entertaining regardless. I listened to My Favorite Murder today for the first time, just before finishing this book. I’ll probably listen again once in a while, but I can only take so much true crime. I liked the humorous slant, though, even if at times it seems completely inappropriate.
