Really fun, quick read! Like many of his works, it left an impression on me. I’m sure I’ll think about this story for years to come.

Loved this clever story. Very Neil Gaiman-esque. Also reminds me of Where the Wild Things are a little bit, but not for children.

It was indeed strange, but that's not a surprise because Murakami (duh!!!). It was interesting, in a way that I wanted to know more about how it is going to progress. I am not curious to know the ending. Murakami's Stories often feel like a twisted dream. There are some indications that lead us to thinking that it might have been real, but then whole chain of events is as surreal as possible that it might as well have been a dream. This story is no different.

Great introduction to Murakami. Not too strange or long so you can get your feet wet before diving into the novels. Gives you a good taste of the strangeness to come.

If this had been my introduction to Murakami, I'd have probably been quicker to try the next thing. A light, interesting and humorous read.

Disturbing but it makes you curious enough to read through the disturbance. I really admire how well Murakami writes about loneliness.

The story has Murakami's usual simplistic yet wonderfully complex world, with bountiful garnishing of details. The only gripe I had is how the story ended in an unsatisfying and inexplicit manner. Reminded me of the ending of [b:The Ocean at the End of the Lane|15783514|The Ocean at the End of the Lane|Neil Gaiman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1497098563l/15783514._SY75_.jpg|21500681] by Neil Gaiman.

A stunningly quick read. It's reminiscent of Alice's Adventures on Wonderland as the main character enters an "other" world within a library. I was enthralled by Murakami's writing, but I was so caught off guard by the abrupt ending. I highly recommend reading a physical copy.

Wild winds woke me at 4am this morning, and I couldn't get back to sleep with them howling around the house. I made a cup of tea and sat down with this beautifully presented little book. I'm really not sure what to make of it, except that I've already dipped back into it several times today to remind myself of some of the wierdness.

One of the themes I really liked about this book:

"Why do I act like this, agreeing when I really disagree, letting people force me to do things I don't want to do?"

Being polite can get you into a lot of trouble.
