The second book picked up almost immediately from where the first ended. It definitely started to delve more into the mysterious nature of the residents of Cainsville. I still very much like Olivia, although I am curious what happens in this odd triangle of Olivia, Ricky, and Gabriel. It's so odd because Gabriel isn't even being jealous, but he is who I think is the most suitable for Olivia. Although maybe this is the slow burn and Ricky and Olivia is the quick rebound. Overall, I'm still intrigued by the books, and can't wait to learn all of the secrets Cainsville is hiding!

I am really liking this new series. I think I have an idea of what's going on, but it's going to take some time to really get all of the answers, and I am liking that. To me, it's more mystery with a side undercurrent of urban fantasy. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Visions (Cainsville #2) by Kelley Armstrong
Date Read: 12 Jan 2024
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The 2nd book in the Cainsville series, and we pick back up a couple weeks after the first book ends.

One thing I LOVE about Armstrong’s books is she doesn’t spend an entire chapter rehashing the events of the prior book. She leaves just enough context and reminders of key plot points to allow the reader to piece together what happened.

There’s clear character development, and some major reveals - some you have guessed by this point and some are real “a-ha!” moments. And even with the reveals, we still have questions and there’s still room for characters to grow and the plot to unfold.

I am really looking forward to picking up book 3 when it becomes available from the library!

I’m still really enjoying the Cainsville series from Kelly Armstrong. A lot has changed in the life of Olivia Taylor-Jones. As the daughter of wealthy Chicago socialites when she learned at the age of 24 that her real parents were convicted serial killers, her life turned upside down. She found refuge in the quiet town of Cainsville but as she begins to see dark omens including a dead woman Olivia is afraid that there is more danger coming after her. But a rift with ally attorney Gabriel Walsh means she doesn’t know who to turn to. Is Olivia seeing omens or is there someone out there who is trying to scare her off? I felt this book was a little slower than the first in the series but I’m still really enjoying the overall storyline and I’m excited to continue with the series.

Ok, this book was much better than the first. It started to get into all the details of Cainsville and the mysterious happenings. I really enjoyed it and it was suspenseful just enough that I wouldn't freak out.

Binge reading Saturday morning. Enough twists to keep me turning pages as a walked to the kitchen to refill my coffee.

Didn't like it as much as the first book, but still loved it. I couldn't help but roll my eyes during all the sex scenes. Armstrong has a propensity for overusing certain adjectives when it comes to the male characters... E.g. "glittering". Ugh. Love where the plot is going though! The part in the asylum had me totally freaked out. Starting the third book ASAP!

Lots of fun. The emphasis on investigation and the slow unfurling of the Fae aspects is really well done. The whole Ricky/Olivia/Gabriel situation is a very stereotypical love triangle thing, with the exception that, at least so far, there is very little macho posturing and jealousy (this is the only thing that makes this bearable). I'm completely team Gabriel, who still doesn't realize that he can have an emotion.

Holy cow. I love this series so dang much. It's literally all I've ever wanted in a book. I especially loved getting some answers, even though we walk away with a handful more. I adore Ricky, though duh...Gabriel is my favorite. But I have a thing for broken people. I saw that Armstrong is working on the fifth Cainsville and I'm so stinking excited.
