Sweet tea and sympathy is a small and nice book for a light read and yet it failed to attract my likeness. What I feel is the author threw a lit of characters as she introduced a big extended family of the protagonist and the book is extremely fast paced which actually didn’t give enough time to get connected or be comfortable around them. I also missed a lot of emotional tension which would actually make the book more relatable. 2.5 stars from me. .

Written with a twang that is unmistakable throughout the entire book, Harper takes readers into a down home Southern small town that, while over the top in its eccentricity, will leave you begging for more.

Thanks to Gallery Books for the advance copy of this title - all opinions are my own!

I have to admit that I truly did NOT love Margot at the beginning of this sassy chick lit story, but over the course of the narrative she really began to grow on me. Or perhaps, as she grew to love Lake Sackett and her family, I was able to relate to her better. Either way, by the end of the book I was so relieved to already know that this book is the first in a series and I'll be able to return to the characters soon!

If you are looking for a light, quirky, down-home Southern story, look no further!

Southern love!

Sweet Tea and Sympathy really hot the spot for me. I live North of the Mason-Dixon, but I am Southern at heart! There were times when Margot would come across some Southern custom that one of her family members had to explain, but I could barely stop laughing long enough to see what they said!! Bless her heart being one of my most favorite Southern sayings ever!! But as much as I love Margot, Kyle and his girls, I can not wait for Frankie and then Duffy to get their books!! Molly Harper writes relatable, funny, easy to read books!! Thank you Ms Harper!!

This was cute. The ending was rushed, but I liked the story. It didn’t have the super “country” cliches that the first novella had which was a plus. Kyle was getting on my nerves towards the end, but he redeemed himself mostly. This was an easy read and I enjoyed it.

A great start to a series about a small Georgia town that is anchored by the funeral home/bait & tackle shop. Margot was a fun character full of sass & vinegar. Uprooted from her home in a spectacular fashion, Margot is lured to Lake Sackett by a relative she knows nothing about. She meets her father for the first time in 20 years & has to find a way to cope in a small town after living her whole life in Chicago. Very much a fish out of water story.

It was an ok read, I loved the Southern setting and the main character's personality, I liked that she was extremely competent and didn't let anyone push her around. I liked the family and their personalities, it was really heart-warming ot follow them and see them get to know each other. However, I think I would have liked less romance, so romance is definitely not my genre after 2 tries. That part of the story was meh, it felt a bit rushed and these parts were the least interesting for me. I hope I can figure out what genre to go to in order to have such heart-warming stories but without the romance parts.
