I LOVED this. This was such a powerful book with a strong FMC who I loved. The magic system was super interesting to me and I can't believed I've put this off for so long. I've never read an urban fantasy before, but I definitely will read more because I loved this. I thought that it being set in the real world would make it tough for me to understand the magic and be involved, but I actually loved how integrated the two were. Like cool magic, and we also have cell phones and can text each other. I am sensing a love triangle for the continuation of the series, and I've definitely picked a side already. I can't wait to continue this and I loved the important themes discussed in this book, because it is so important.
This was a little bit confusing at first, but ultimately really good! I really liked Bree and Selwyn, their friendship was one of the best parts of the book tbh. (And also I'm hoping for a throuple with them and Nick, though I know it's unlikely.) I did think Bree wasn't really written like a 16 year old, but I find that with a lot of YA books. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series, and seeing the horrible racist old boys club get their comeuppance.
Graphic: Racism, Grief, Death of parent
Moderate: Violence
This is an absolute need to read book with a stunning, brilliant, poignant, and honest take.

I absolutely loved this book! There are so many complex themes mixed in with awesome King Arthur lore. The FMC is definitely one of my favorites. This was YA, but it felt more like new adult (without spice) and the writing was amazing! Can’t wait to pick up book two!!
This was a great book.
It was fast-paced with an interesting plot which kept me hooked throughout the entire book.
Bree is a lovely, though complex, character, and you can't help but come to adore her.
I can't wait to read the next one!

Couldn’t put this book down! It’s an action-packed adventure, but it doesn’t shy away from heavier topics like grief and racism. The way that the author weaves these themes throughout makes them just as important as the story itself. For that reason, I would recommend this book even to those who don’t typically read fantasy or YA. Also, it’s just a good time with an interesting magical world and loveable but messy characters. Now on to book 2….
