Lauren Layne has a style, and it is a style I enjoy immensely. So even though I know that the book will have some crosses in the beginning, a huge friend circle, said friends being extremely nosy, men dressed in suits, women dressed in skirts, I will still keep coming back for more. and more. and some more.
3.5-4 stars, for sheer fun.

Better than expected.
No real third act break up - things were worked out.
The plot was also nice and didn't feel like it was only an excuse for the romance.
Excellent narrators.

Ian is a sexy, suit wearing, Wall Street playboy. He hasn't had the easiest life, but has worked super hard and is killing life on Wall Street. He works hard and plays hard. Ian never went back for seconds or even wanted to until he saw Lara. I adore him and love spending time in his mind. Ian has an amazing tribe of friends that I believe the series is going to be based around.
Lara's dream is to work for the FBI as a white collar agent. Working for the SEC was the stepping block she needed to get there. This was the big case that was suppose to get her into the FBI. I found Lara easy to relate to. She isn't a party girl. She is too busy working and trying to chase her dream.
Hot Asset started the 21 Wall Street series off with a bang. I did not love this book, but I enjoyed it.
I feel invested in the world it takes place and the characters that live in it. I am excited spend more time in this world.

An honest stock trader & an SEC investigator who is investigating him. This is barely enemies to lovers, more of a push/pull relationship. I found this totally engaging. There is a huge suspension of disbelief required regarding the SEC investigators (Lara & her boss.) BUT, it was still fun & serious & satisfying.

----------------------------------
Meeting the Characters
Ian Bradley
Lara McKenzie

What happens?
Lara is the federal agent assigned to investigate the investment banker for insider trading. Ian is the investment banker being accused for something he did purely on intuition. He however cannot ignore the pull towards the sassy agent who dares to turn him down.
Final thoughts
Really loved this book. I thought Lara was funny and a good match to his arrogant attitude.

Look I don't root for cops or Wall Street so I had a little bit of a hump to get over with these characters in this plot, but after I did everything was fun. I liked Ian, I liked Lara, I liked the rest of the crew, and it was a novel plot that was engaging.
I am racking my memory to see if I've ever actually met someone with blue eyes and black hair though... this book had two. I'm not convinced it's a thing.
