So this is not my usual book especially because it has the pregnancy trope but I really wanted to keep reading the Callahan’s but idk how I feel about Diego and his excuse to be the asshole we know from the other books.
High school.
He's accused of cheating due to rumours and he's hanging around with the tyer woman.
He doesn't deny it.
Heroine blocks him on her phone. Refuses to discuss cheating.
Hero. 'But how do I tell her? How do I swallow my pride and my fear and admit I got my girlfriend pregnant? Oh, and supposedly I cheated on her and left her at pretty much the exact moment she found out about the baby? Mom has already heard the rumors about me and Cami. Hell, when people started saying we were seeing each other, I legit started hanging out with her. May as well live up to everyone’s expectations of me, right?
I was fucking stupid for doing that. Mom hated Cami on sight, and openly expressed her disapproval. She adores Jocelyn.
Everyone adores Jocelyn.
Even me.'
'
“I never had sex with Cami!”'
Other woman causes loads of childish drama and it doesn't get set straight so heroine believes her.
Both very immature. Both young.
HEA.

Writing this with tears in my eyes. Monica never lets me down. Listen, I didn’t know if I wanted to read this book after what we know about Diego from the previous books. He’s arrogant, a cheater, just an all around loud mouth jerk, or is he? This book is proof that we never know someone. We never know the struggles they go through behind closed doors. We never know why they do what they do; lash out, beg for attention.
Diego has a reputation. He’s “that guy”. You know the one, the one who wants all the attention and will do whatever with whomever to get it. When things blow up, his girlfriend Jocelyn is left looking like a fool. Jocelyn is alone, and pregnant while Diego is off with Cami being the talk of the school.
Diego knows he has made mistakes. The need for attention won out against his relationship with the girl he is in love with. When he finds out she’s pregnant with his baby, he will stop at nothing to prove he has what it takes to be a good father, and maybe more.
Jocelyn is really leery, and honestly, she has the right to be, but as she starts to see more of the true Diego, the one he hides from everyone, the more she realizes he might be more than everyone thinks he is.
This book broke my heart at times because I could feel for both of these characters. I didn’t think Monica could redeem this guy, but he’s probably one of my favorite of her characters now. I’m just so in love with their story, and the baby didn’t hurt things. I’m a sucker for a dad with his baby.

okay, but, DIEGO. you’ve redeemed yourself in my heart & now i never want to go back to hating you.
this book was EVERYTHING. i read it in a matter of hours, i couldn’t get enough of Joselyn & Diego’s little family & their story.
Like, wow, MONICA. whattttaaaa masterpiece, truly.
Monica has made me a lover of NA romance & now i never want to go back.
The redemption arc of this one was truly a masterpiece. A broken boy, a girl who wasn’t going to put up with it any longer - growing up when you have no other options.
thanks to monica & valentine for the arc! all thoughts are my own.

Fighting For You is the fifth book in The Callahans series and it follows Diego and Joslin.
I'll admit that Diego was not someone I was interested in reading more about. I thought Joslin seemed like someone I would want to know so I had mixed feelings going into this. I like that this story highlighted the fact that there are always two sides to every story. And while I think Diego should have denied some of the rumors that went around when he was still dating Jos, I can start to understand his psyche and why he didn't.
Diego and Jos are a couple that are on shaky ground. Rumors are going around the school of Diego cheating and denying that Jos is pregnant with his baby. Jos is a strong and fierce character, I liked her immediately. I liked that she didn't always take the easy route and that she learned to stand up for herself. I like that Diego was able to leave a toxic environment and become more of who he had always wanted to be.
Fighting for you is about redemption and I enjoyed this book. There were great characters in it and I loved getting to know more about this universe. I can't wait to see what's next!

ahhhhhh you know what idk why I was worried cause pregnancy trope always got my back! the angst was there.
I was worried it was going to be a continued back and forth but that break was needed and now diego, jos & gigi are a happy family

I loved this book, was hooked again from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down! The characters and story just draw you in and keep you interested. A definite must read.
Lol, wait. HOW did DIEGO end up being my favorite Callahan series hero?!?!
How? Monica. How? Alexa, play “started from the bottom by Drake,” because Diego was the worst, but now he’s the best.
Ok, so if you’ve read this series (you really should) then you know that Diego is somewhat of the villain in Falling for Her (Callahans #2)! He betrays his newly PREGNANT girlfriend, Jocelyn, by cheating on her with his best friend’s horrible ex, and he’s just a huge jerk to everyone. Mean to his best friend’s new girlfriend, hanging around with the wrong people, getting into fights. He’s on the full bad boy spiral ride, but we see all that from other peoples POV.
The thing is, what made me hate him in other books is what made me feel compassion and fall for him in his book. What is it people always say, “villains are made, not born.” I know that’s not always the case, but for Diego life gave him some crumby hands and he definitely was acting out and reacting from that. He’s a teenager, and while everything he did was AWFUL, I think that people can get redemption, and Monica did a good job navigating Diego on that path.
Jocelyn was a “good” girl with dreams, now she’s a pregnant high schooler. When she makes the decision to keep her baby, she pulls on her big girl panties and makes it work. She is lucky because she has a lot of help, but she doesn’t take it for granted. Honestly I loved how Jocelyn dealt with the Diego situation. It’s hard to be hard on someone you love, but if you love them, and they need tough love you’re doing what’s right. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I will say that Jocelyn and Diego’s journey is kind of perfect. Yes, it’s angsty and a ride before the ending, but the journey makes sense for them and was necessary.
I’m just still shocked that Monica made me love Diego so much. It’s amazing honestly. Near a miracle, but he’s honestly my favorite of this series now. I can’t wait to read more in this world. It’s going to be amazing, I feel it.
