A real boost in these rather depressing, COVID-dominated times - this is a very chin-up story to cheer us up.

I love these books! They're realistic but not horribly heavy given that it's WWII and a nice light romance that's not the main focus, and likable characters to root for the whole way through.

This book was beautiful and funny and heartbreaking. I loved Emmy's tenacity in the first book of the series and continue to adore her in this book as well. I liked how her character grew and opened her eyes and mind to understand how others were forced to cope with loss and real hardship during wartime. The story in some ways is quite relevant to what single moms and military widows with young kids have to deal with even today. Can't wait to read the next book in the series, and I don't typically read series!

I really enjoyed Dear Mrs. Bird, so I was excited to read this sequel. It did not disappoint! Full of memorable characters (some from before and some new), I found this book to be an uplifting testament to the human spirit. I'm not always a fan of historical fiction, but these books were written in a way that was interesting and informative without being utterly depressing. I wouldn't go so far as to say lighthearted, although there is a lot of humor and happiness, but definitely uplifting.

So here's what I said about Dear Mrs. Bird:
ADORABLE! Great story with a backdrop of WWII. Strong women - even if they were a bit flakey... a quick read that was so worthwhile!! Wishing for a sequel!

I GOT MY WISH!! These are the cutest women (while still being STRONG). Loved it!!

Thank you to the author, publisher and Net Galley for providing me with an ebook ARC of this book.

I didn't' realize this was a sequel to another book, and I have not read the previous book. I thought it would be ok, that I would be able to fall into the story and enjoy the book. I could not. I constantly felt like I was missing something, that I needed more information. And, I am fully 'burned out' on books of this era.

As all the other reviews say, if you liked the first book, you'd probably like this one. If you haven't read the first book, you might want to wait on this one.

Stayed up till long after midnight. I love these characters, love the story arc, the humor can be laugh out loud, and yet many poignant moments. Plus, the sense of time and place is palpable. Great read! Looking forward to more, please, Ms. Pearce!
